The Store Assistant Manager role is crucial to our retail operations, reporting directly to the Store Manager. This position plays a pivotal role in managing customer relations, supporting all aspects of order processing, and assisting in daily store operations such as inventory control, expense management, and staff oversight. The assistant manager serves as a key liaison between management and staff, ensuring that the store operates smoothly and meets its sales and service objectives. This role includes supervisory responsibilities, leadership in training and development, and direct engagement with customers to ensure exceptional service delivery.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing sales performance, adjusting strategies to maximize revenue, and maintaining compliance with company policies. They will oversee daily operational tasks such as managing funds, payroll, scheduling, and inventory control. Furthermore, this role requires strong communication skills to maintain effective interaction with employees and customers alike. The Assistant Manager must be capable of stepping in for the Store Manager when necessary, making critical decisions, and fostering a positive working environment. Moreover, this role involves continuous evaluation of store performance, handling conflict resolution, and supporting accounts receivable collections.

Candidates must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of automotive parts and systems, be comfortable with retail computer systems, and possess the physical ability to manage store operations, which may include lifting merchandise and climbing ladders. This position requires flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays, and a willingness to travel to various company locations as needed. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in automotive retail management and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of automotive parts, equipment and systems
  • Ability to process information and merchandise through computer system and POS register system
  • Ability to communicate with associates and guests
  • Ability to read, count and write accurately to complete all documentation
  • Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0-50 pounds
  • Ability to work varied hours/days to oversee store operations
  • Must be dependable as a key holder
  • Ability to open and close store as required
  • Ability to balance books and do deposit as required
  • Must maintain regular and prompt attendance
  • Attitude that supports the Company’s goals and values

Job Duties

  • Plan and assign daily goals, tasks and assignments to staff members
  • Assure proper completion through follow-up
  • Assist in monitoring sales performance, assisting in adjusting strategies when necessary
  • Management of all office tasks including management of funds and media, receiving, inventory, payroll, and writing the employee schedule
  • Responsible for communication with all staff
  • Have ability to run all aspects of store in manager’s absence
  • Analyze and measure business trends
  • develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives
  • Control shrink, expenses, and payroll
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store management and staff meetings, store walk-through and audits
  • Continually evaluate and react to performance issues
  • complete and administer 90-Day and Annual employee reviews
  • Train and develop store employees in all aspects of the business
  • direct and monitor training and development for all store personnel
  • Ability to handle and resolve issues between employees and customers and/or among employees
  • Monitor and assist in Accounts Receivable collections
  • Willingness and ability to work additional hours including weekends and holidays as needed and travel to various company locations
  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service
  • Routinely contact and visit customers to foster improved communications and build upon relationships
  • Monitor sales trends, pricing and inventory levels and offer advice to Store Manager
  • Train and develop store staff, insuring all company policies and procedures are followed
  • Make proper, necessary decisions when the Store Manager is unavailable
  • Must present a good image of the company through proper dress and attitude
  • Must participate in and complete company sponsored and supported training
  • Attends training or uses printed media to increase product knowledge
  • Perform any other tasks or duties assigned by the Store Manager
