Job Description

Black Family Hospitality (BFH) is a family-owned Texas institution deeply rooted in generations of tradition, heart, and hospitality. Established in 2014, BFH has become synonymous with authentic Texas barbecue and elevated dining experiences through its renowned restaurants, including Terry Black's BBQ and Opal's Oysters. These establishments have garnered widespread recognition both locally and beyond for their unwavering commitment to quality, craft, and flavor. BFH values a family-driven approach that emphasizes craftsmanship, storytelling, and innovation, making it more than just a restaurant group—it is a community dedicated to preserving the rich culinary heritage of Texas while pushing boundaries to redefine the hospitality experience.

BFH is now expanding with an innovative new concept that blends immersive entertainment, carefully curated cocktails, thoughtful cuisine, and experiential hospitality that transcends traditional dining models. This exciting evolution allows team members to immerse themselves in a vibrant environment where every day brings opportunities to contribute to creating memorable experiences for guests.

The role of Restaurant Assistant Manager at BFH is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing daily restaurant operations under the leadership of the General Manager. The Assistant Manager ensures that service, quality, and performance standards meet and exceed expectations consistently. This position requires supervising both front-of-house and back-of-house staff, managing shift schedules, monitoring inventory levels, and enforcing compliance with health and safety regulations.

In this role, the Assistant Manager supports ongoing staff training and development to foster a knowledgeable and motivated team. They handle guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism and promptness, striving always to enhance customer satisfaction. Additionally, they assist in driving sales by implementing cost control measures and operational efficiencies, contributing directly to the restaurant's financial health and overall success.

Training for this position will take place in Dallas and/or Austin, Texas, prior to the opening of the new concept location, providing hands-on experience and in-depth understanding of company standards and expectations.

Key supervisory responsibilities include training and supporting restaurant staff, ensuring schedule compliance, conducting timely disciplinary and coaching meetings, and managing employee discipline and termination according to company policies. The Assistant Manager is instrumental in promoting a team culture where every employee feels valued and motivated to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

The starting salary for this role is $65,000 annually, with additional bonuses available. Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage, underlining BFH's commitment to supporting its team members’ well-being. Joining Black Family Hospitality means becoming part of a growing family that seeks to honor a legacy of flavor, family, and excellence in hospitality.
