Job Description

Panda Express, a leading American Chinese restaurant chain, has been serving up delicious Asian cuisine since its founding in Glendale, California, in 1983. Today, Panda Express stands as the largest family-owned American Chinese Restaurant concept in the United States, operating close to 2,800 locations worldwide. Over the decades, Panda Express has grown from a single store into a global brand recognized for its commitment to quality, guest satisfaction, and community impact. This growth has been fueled by the company’s dedication to not only delivering exceptional dining experiences but also fostering a culture that values family and professional development. Panda Express prides itself on being more than a restaurant; it is a community of associates who work together to inspire each other to achieve more in their personal and professional lives. Committed to inclusivity, Panda Express is an equal opportunity employer, ensuring a diverse and welcoming workplace free from discrimination based on characteristics protected by law. The company actively supports employees who require accommodations to ensure equal participation during hiring and employment, reflecting its adherence to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The role of Assistant Manager at Panda Express is a critical leadership position within the store management team. This role involves assisting with all operational aspects of a single store, contributing directly to the achievement of financial goals and the delivery of outstanding guest experiences. The Assistant Manager is responsible for hiring, managing, and directing associates, effectively motivating the team to maintain high standards of service and operational excellence. This leadership position includes hands-on responsibilities that influence the daily success of the store and the overall customer satisfaction. Candidates selected for this role will undertake a comprehensive store leadership training program lasting three or more weeks, designed to provide the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in this capacity. Panda Express offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $22.5 to $25.5 per hour, with the possibility of bonus opportunities depending on performance and location. In addition, Panda Express extends a generous compensation package that includes medical, vision, dental, and other insurance options, as well as retirement benefits like a 401K plan with company matching.

In this role, the Assistant Manager will enjoy benefits such as free meals during shifts, access to paid time off, paid holidays, and programs supporting work-life balance, including bereavement and funeral leave. The company also provides ongoing career and leadership development opportunities, continuous education assistance through scholarships, and a referral bonus program. Additionally, associates are eligible for discounts on various lifestyle benefits, including theme parks and gym memberships, and the chance to actively engage in giving back to their communities. The dynamic work environment is fast-paced and demanding, requiring stamina, precision, and strong communication skills. While physical demands include the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and maneuver in a kitchen setting often characterized by heat and noise, Panda Express is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive workplace. Through its comprehensive training, inclusive culture, and dedication to associate development, Panda Express not only promises a rewarding career but also a place where associates can thrive serving both their communities and customers.
