Job Description

Panda Express, established in 1983 in Glendale, California, is the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, boasting nearly 2,800 locations globally. As a company, it is dedicated to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences while fostering an environment that inspires people to improve their lives both professionally and personally. Panda Express values family principles, creating a culture where associates are encouraged to grow through supportive mentorship and paid leadership training programs. The company prioritizes the development of their team members and provides a welcoming atmosphere with a strong commitment to equal opportunity and inclusion.

As an Assistant Manager at Panda Express, you will play a key role in the operation of a single store. This leadership position involves managing and directing associates to achieve financial goals, ensuring outstanding guest service, and maintaining operational excellence. The role requires skills in hiring, training, scheduling, and motivating staff, all while driving the success of the store. Panda Express equips new Assistant Managers with a comprehensive three-week (or longer) store leadership training program to build the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for store management. The company also offers ongoing career and leadership development opportunities, including education assistance and scholarships to help you progress within the organization.

This is a full-time employment opportunity with a pay range of $22.5 to $25.5 per hour, determined by factors such as work location and experience. Panda Express also provides a generous compensation package that includes bonus opportunities and comprehensive benefits for eligible associates. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, 401K with company match, and various voluntary insurance options such as short-term disability and cancer income protection. Additionally, employees enjoy perks such as free meals during shifts, discounts on gym memberships and theme parks, and participation in community giving programs.

The Assistant Manager position demands physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with hot and potentially noisy conditions. Candidates must be flexible to work within a 50-mile radius of the store and accommodate a schedule that includes weekends. Food safety certification, specifically Serve Safe, is required to comply with health and safety standards.

Panda Express is an equal opportunity employer committed to hiring without discrimination based on legally protected characteristics. The company complies with all applicable laws regarding workplace accommodation and offers reasonable accommodations during the application and hiring process. The organization emphasizes its inclusive work environment that supports diversity, equity, and accessibility for all employees. This role provides a fantastic opportunity for aspiring leaders who want to develop their skills and grow their careers in a dynamic and respected restaurant group that values its people and culture.
