The role of Assistant Manager at McAlister's Deli is critical to the success of individual restaurant operations. The Assistant Manager is responsible for directing daily activities to ensure the restaurant achieves sales and profit goals while maintaining the highest standards in food quality, cleanliness, safety, and guest service. Reporting to the General Manager, the Assistant Manager oversees both front-of-house and back-of-house team members, ensuring a positive atmosphere for guests and employees alike. This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage team dynamics, and a commitment to delivering the McAlister's Touch—a hallmark of superior guest interaction and service.

The Assistant Manager’s responsibilities include supervising daily team performance, ensuring food preparation meets all specified standards, and maintaining a clean and safe environment both inside and outside the restaurant. They also assist in financial management duties such as monitoring budgets, controlling costs, managing inventory to reduce waste and theft, and ensuring compliance with cash handling procedures. Acting as a key support to the General Manager, the Assistant Manager is also deeply involved in recruiting, hiring, training, motivating, and evaluating team members. They foster a positive and respectful work environment that motivates employees and maintains high team morale.

In addition to operational management, the Assistant Manager actively advocates a team environment, promoting unity, open communication, and collaboration amongst staff. They are responsible for conducting team meetings, managing conflicts professionally, and ensuring the restaurant is appropriately staffed to maintain workflow efficiency and positive employee relations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of restaurant management experience in busy, fast-paced settings and be able to work flexible hours, including all shifts during the restaurant's open hours. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for most of the shift, lift heavy loads, and use various physical skills including walking, bending, and handling tools or equipment. Excellent attendance and time management are essential, as well as the ability to communicate clearly with guests and team members. Travel for occasional company purposes may also be required and reliable transportation is necessary.

Job Requirements

  • travel may be required for deliveries, visits to other locations, or company meetings
