Job Description

Panda Express is an industry-leading American Chinese restaurant chain known for its commitment to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences across a vast network of nearly 2,800 locations globally. Founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, Panda Express has grown to become the largest family-owned Chinese restaurant concept in the United States. The company embraces strong family values and prioritizes both the professional and personal development of its associates, making it a community-oriented workplace where employees are recognized as part of a family. Panda Express is dedicated to providing not just a job, but a career path built on mentorship, comprehensive training, and a supportive environment.

The company is actively seeking experienced leaders to join their store management team as Assistant Managers. This is an hourly position with pay ranging from $30 to $33 per hour, depending on factors such as work location and individual experience. The role is primarily responsible for assisting in the operation of a single Panda Express store, which includes hiring, managing, and directing associates to meet financial goals and ensure exceptional guest experiences. New hires will undergo a structured leadership training program lasting three or more weeks, designed to prepare them fully for success in the leadership role.

The Assistant Manager position is a dynamic role that demands flexibility, leadership skills, and a strong commitment to customer service. In this capacity, a manager will oversee daily store operations, lead teams, maintain high standards of food safety and quality, and foster a positive store environment. The role also includes proactive involvement in community outreach and corporate social responsibility initiatives, reflecting the company’s commitment to giving back to the community.

As a part of Panda Express, associates have access to a variety of attractive benefits and perks. These include free meals during working hours, a generous compensation package with bonus opportunities, and comprehensive insurance coverage for full-time employees, such as medical, vision, dental, voluntary short-term disability, and cancer income protection. Additionally, the company offers a 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off including holidays and bereavement, discounts on theme parks and gym memberships, and scholarship opportunities for continuous education. Career development is strongly supported through on-going leadership training and career advancement opportunities within the Panda Restaurant Group.

Working at Panda Express also involves adhering to specific physical requirements due to the nature of the job. The restaurant environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring employees to stand for extended periods, lift items up to 50 pounds, and operate in confined and heated kitchen spaces. Effective communication, adaptability, and conflict management skills are essential for success in this role.

Panda Express is committed to equal opportunity employment and invites candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply. The company complies with ADA regulations to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified applicants and employees, ensuring an inclusive workplace where all are valued and respected. Prospective candidates interested in joining a reputable, growing company with a positive culture and strong leadership development will find the Assistant Manager role at Panda Express to be a fulfilling and rewarding career choice.
