The Assistant Manager role is a pivotal position within the restaurant, serving as the second-in-command in the daily operations and supporting the Restaurant General Manager in driving profitability, operational efficiency, and superior guest experiences. This role demands a balance of leadership, administrative acumen, and hands-on involvement in restaurant management. The Assistant Manager dedicates their efforts to developing team members into servant leaders, ensuring that every guest interaction is memorable, and overseeing the operational aspects of the restaurant, including inventory management, maintenance, and cash control.

Responsibilities include managing inventory costs through daily and weekly counts, placing and receiving orders, and ensuring preventative maintenance tasks are completed according to company standards. The Assistant Manager also plays a critical role in enforcing cash control and security procedures, safeguarding the restaurant's financial assets. A strong focus on guest service is required, including following up on guest complaints, motivating staff to exceed guest expectations, and partnering with the General Manager to enhance service quality through targeted action plans.

Leadership development is another cornerstone of this role. The Assistant Manager handles recruitment, interviewing, orientation of new employees, and managing the onboarding process while fostering a positive and inclusive culture in the restaurant. Additionally, the Assistant Manager directs the restaurant team toward achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operational success and guest satisfaction, while ensuring strict adherence to food safety and brand standards. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in restaurant or hospitality management
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Capability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Physical ability to perform restaurant duties
  • Commitment to maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards

Job Duties

  • Assist in managing inventory costs and maintain inventory by performing daily and weekly counts
  • Place and receive inventory truck orders
  • Ensure preventative maintenance of restaurant facility and equipment is completed according to company standards
  • Ensure that restaurant follows all cash control and security procedures such as safe counting and cash drawers
  • Call guests back who have had problems or complaints
  • Motivate and direct team to exceed guest expectations with accurate, fast and friendly service in a clean facility
  • Partner with the Restaurant General Manager and team to create action plans to improve guest metrics
  • Recruit and interview potential employees
  • Complete orientation for new employees
  • Create and monitor schedule and manage team onboarding process
  • Establish a positive culture in the restaurant
  • Direct restaurant team toward a common goal while meeting KPIs
  • Ensure that restaurant upholds food safety and brand standards
