Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Prior experience with large quantity food preparation
  • Basic computational skills
  • Completion of a food safety training course within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple English instructions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgement
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to work with public and staff in a busy environment

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Prior experience in large quantity food preparation
  • Basic computational skills
  • Experience working in a school setting preferred
  • Completion of food safety training course within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English instructions
  • Effective verbal and reactive communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and good judgement
  • Ability to adhere to work schedules and maintain punctuality

Job Duties

  • Assist the Kitchen Manager in overseeing meal preparation and service
  • Develop positive working relationships with learners and staff
  • Maintain open communication with building administrators
  • Provide training and daily direction to food service employees
  • Evaluate work performance of food service workers
  • Monitor product quality, portion control and minimize waste
  • Conduct weekly inventory of kitchen supplies and manage food rotation
  • Clean work area using proper sanitation procedures
  • Attend monthly meetings and trainings
  • Maintain kitchen facilities and report maintenance issues
  • Supervise kitchen staff to ensure safety and quality standards
  • Assist with weekly food and supply orders
  • Maintain accurate records of daily food sales and meal production
  • Perform cashiering duties including handling money and making change
  • Assume Kitchen Manager responsibilities in their absence
