The role of Assistant Kitchen Manager at Outback Steakhouse is an exciting leadership opportunity within the restaurant’s back-of-house operations. This position is designed for a motivated individual who enjoys coaching and helping team members while ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently. With limited supervision, the Assistant Kitchen Manager supports Kitchen Managers and back-of-house staff by maintaining high restaurant kitchen standards and achieving consistent quality each day. This role involves important responsibilities such as preparing inventory, overseeing food safety practices, coaching on security procedures, and managing the flow and timeliness of meal preparation. The ideal candidate is a leader with a coaching mindset, someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the importance of adhering to recipe specifications and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen. Job Requirements

  • Certified trainer in any back-of-house functions
  • passing grade in assessment testing
  • must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule
  • legal authorization to work in the United States
  • minimum 21 years of age

Job Qualifications

  • Certified trainer in any back-of-house functions
  • previous experience in restaurant industry preferred
  • previously held positions of leadership preferred
  • trained and proficient in all areas of back-of-house functions preferred
  • passing grade in assessment testing
  • must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule
  • legal authorization to work in the United States
  • minimum 21 years of age

Job Duties

  • Maintain high employment standards consistent with Bloomin' Brands policies
  • assist in set ups for the opening crew in the kitchen
  • check schedule for incoming team members
  • adhere to and coach on security procedures
  • evaluate the previous night's close
  • review daily inventory
  • prepare to receive orders
  • track shelf-life adherence
  • check temperatures on freezer, dish machine, and refrigeration units before prepping
  • learn flavor profiles and specifications of menu items
  • follow recipe cards with no compromise
  • review daily sanitation checklists and conduct checks
  • conduct daily health inspections
  • adhere to sanitation, temperature, and food safety standards
  • work the flow and timeliness of tickets to ensure exceptional cook times
