We are a reputable franchise group operating nine renowned Ruth's Chris Steak House locations across North Carolina, Maryland, and New Jersey. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Kitchen Manager/Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. This critical role involves providing day-to-day assistance and direct support to the chef and kitchen staff by supervising kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, monitoring food preparation, and overseeing staff job performance in the absence of the chef. The ideal candidate must have a high degree of commitment to food quality and safety standards, and be proficient in a variety of cooking techniques and kitchen operations. This role requires not only culinary expertise but also exceptional leadership and organizational abilities to manage a high-volume, upscale kitchen environment.

The Assistant Kitchen Manager/Sous Chef will play an instrumental role in maintaining the seamless operation of our kitchens, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests. They must be proficient and cross-trained in all kitchen job stations and cooking skills, ensuring flexibility and the capability to step into various roles as needed. A key responsibility is to promote a positive teamwork atmosphere and effective communication within the team, enhancing overall kitchen efficiency and morale. This position necessitates multitasking skills and the ability to react quickly in fast-paced settings, while also being committed to safety regulations including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods during shifts.

Job Requirements

  • Must have 3 years prior kitchen management experience
  • Must be skilled in operating kitchen equipment
  • Must be skilled in various cooking techniques
  • Must showcase teamwork and communication skills
  • Must showcase great organizational skills
  • Must be able to multitask and act quickly
  • Must carry at least a high school diploma
  • Extensive experience cooking in and ideally leading a high-volume, upscale concept restaurant
  • Formal culinary training and education is a plus
  • Formal business education is a plus
  • Proficient and cross-trained in all kitchen job stations, positions and cooking skills
  • Servsafe Food Certification and or equivalent
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50lbs and working on feet for at least 8 hours
