Job Description
Outback Steakhouse is a renowned casual dining restaurant chain specializing in steak and Australian-themed cuisine. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and high-quality food, Outback Steakhouse focuses on providing an exceptional dining experience by serving "serious food" in a fun and vibrant environment. With locations across the United States, Outback Steakhouse prides itself on delivering consistent, flavorful dishes and outstanding guest service. The brand is part of Bloomin' Brands, a global family of restaurants celebrated for its innovative approach to hospitality and commitment to employee growth and satisfaction.
The Assistant Kitchen Manager at Outback Steakhouse plays a critical role in supporting the back-of-house operations to ensure every plate meets the restaurant’s high standards. Reporting directly to the Kitchen Manager, this leadership position involves guiding and coaching the kitchen team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Assistant Kitchen Manager fosters a culture of quality, efficiency, and safety by leading by example and ensuring that all kitchen procedures, from food preparation to sanitation, are meticulously followed. This role demands a deep understanding of all kitchen stations and functions, as well as the ability to uphold food safety standards and Bloomin' Brands’ employment policies. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary excellence and team leadership to grow professionally within a supportive and dynamic workplace.
The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including nights and weekends, and demands a hands-on approach to managing the kitchen’s daily operations. Tasks include overseeing inventory and vendor deliveries, maintaining kitchen equipment, enforcing food safety practices, coordinating shift transitions, and ensuring exceptional guest cook times. The Assistant Kitchen Manager also plays a vital role in mentoring team members, maintaining health inspection readiness, and fostering a fun and motivating work culture described as "Auss-some". This role offers competitive benefits like medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, 401k retirement savings options, and potential professional growth within Bloomin' Brands. Compensation varies by location, reflecting the diverse market across different areas. Outback Steakhouse encourages a diverse workforce and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fair and inclusive hiring practices.
