Specifically, this exciting opportunity is found at The Plaza, a historic castle on the park and a Fairmont Managed hotel located in the heart of midtown New York City. The Plaza has been an iconic landmark since 1907 and today boasts 282 luxury hotel rooms and suites. The hotel is celebrated for its elegant Champagne Bar and the famous Palm Court, a premier destination for afternoon tea in New York City. As a Five Diamond standard establishment, The Plaza offers guests an unrivaled, authentic local experience coupled with sophisticated excellence.
The role of Assistant In-Room Dining Manager at The Plaza is critical in delivering an exceptional in-room dining experience to hotel guests. This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $80,000 per annum plus bonus incentives. The Assistant In-Room Dining Manager oversees the daily operations related to in-room dining services, ensuring guests receive outstanding service from the moment orders are placed until delivery. This includes managing order accuracy, staff performance, table settings, and menu knowledge. The position demands a hands-on approach, ensuring that service encounters with both guests and employees are friendly and service-oriented.
In this role, you would act as a key liaison between guests, servers, and the kitchen team, guaranteeing smooth communication and efficient service flow. You will be responsible for managing shift staffing, maintaining equipment and supplies, and monitoring POS systems for operational accuracy. Your presence on the floor during shifts ensures guests are greeted warmly and their needs are met promptly. Additionally, you will handle guest feedback constructively and have the flexibility to support other food and beverage outlets when required. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in food and beverage supervisory roles
- Proven experience in luxury hotel or high-end restaurant environment
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure
- Proficiency in POS and inventory management systems
Job Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills
- Previous experience in an assistant food & beverage manager/supervisory role preferably in a 5 star/diamond environment
- Clear & concise written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, namely Word and Excel
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations
- Strong food, wine and liquor knowledge
Job Duties
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner
- Comply at all times with Fairmont standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
- Act as liaison between servers, guests, and kitchen
- Oversee and assist daily operations (morning, evening, overnight), cleaning duties within corporate SOP format, and requisition of necessary supplies
- Oversee guest selection and ensure proper placement and distribution
- Responsible for shift staffing and table dressing area
- Supervise tabletop presentation for meal service
- Floor presence during shift, greeting and interaction with guests
- Prepare shift schedules according to hotel occupancy and special functions
- Handle and resolve constructive guest feedback
- Complete menu knowledge
- May assist in other F&B outlet when needed
- Maintain inventory of equipment, linen and other supplies
- Monitor and control POS system with regards to guest checks and hotel reports
- Assume additional responsibilities in restaurant manager's absence
- Other duties as required
