Job Description
Sho-Pai Tribes, officially known as the Shoshone-Paiute (Sho-Pai) Tribes, represents a sovereign tribal government located on the Duck Valley Reservation in Owyhee, Nevada. The current opportunity is for a full-time Assistant HR Director / Benefits Coordinator based in Owyhee, Nevada. This position reports directly to the Human Resources Director and serves as a critical member of the HR team, focusing on overseeing day-to-day human resources operations. The role emphasizes full-cycle recruitment management, benefits administration, and employee relations support to foster a positive workplace culture aligned with the Tribes' mission and values.
As the Assistant HR Director / Benefits Coordinator, you will manage recruitment processes including sourcing, screening, and coordinating interviews to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent. You will also administer employee benefits programs, field employee questions about their coverage, and maintain accurate personnel records. Supporting onboarding activities and conducting employee orientations will be integral parts of your responsibilities, as will assisting with HR reporting, compliance efforts such as drug testing protocols, and special projects for the HR department. In the absence of the Human Resources Director, you will take on leadership duties, guiding HR functions and supporting team members.
This role requires a hands-on approach to human resources management within a close-knit and culturally respectful environment. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of HR experience, including at least two years managing full-cycle recruitment. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field is required. Ideal candidates will also bring additional certifications such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or THRP, and have experience with HR information systems like MIP. The position demands strong organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, and a collaborative spirit.

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management Business Administration or Psychology
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources including 2 years of full-cycle recruitment experience
