Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Previous cooking experience required
  • Current food safety certificate required and must be renewed every three years
  • Ability to read and speak English and Spanish preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and Spanish preferred
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment properly
  • Adequate knife handling skills
  • Ability to work scheduled hours including weekends and holidays
  • Basic math skills
  • Good attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to maintain safety and cleanliness standards

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Assist Head Cook with planning menus
  • Assist Head Cook with routine inventory process
  • Light gas ovens, check for gas leaks, and turn on the extractor upon arrival in the morning
  • Prepare meat and vegetables by marinating, soaking, cutting as necessary
  • Cook food by specified times for display and lunchtime service
  • Maintain standards of cleanliness including use of gloves and hair nets
  • Take safety measures when handling hot food and trays
  • Place and replenish food trays on display
  • Monitor floor conditions and enforce safety measures
  • Organize and maintain pantry, coolers, and freezers
  • Verify display cases and refrigeration temperatures
  • Maintain sanitary work area according to health and safety codes
  • Clean, sanitize, and properly store kitchen utensils
  • Operate kitchen equipment properly and report malfunctions
  • Sweep and mop floors as needed
  • Report accidents promptly
  • Attend and participate in meetings
  • Ensure punctuality and good attendance
  • Perform other work-related duties as required
