The Assistant Grocery Manager position at Sprouts Farmers Market is a vital leadership role responsible for helping customers make healthy food choices while managing one of the busiest teams in the store. This role involves assisting the Grocery Manager in overseeing and merchandising the department to maximize productivity and profitability. Key responsibilities include ordering and inventory control, ensuring product quality, and supervising the Grocery team. The Assistant Grocery Manager effectively coordinates merchandising and sales efforts through continuous planning, goal setting, clear communication, and teamwork.

Additionally, this position plays an essential role in hiring, training, and developing the Grocery team to deliver top-quality products and outstanding customer experiences. The Assistant Grocery Manager also handles unloading and sorting of store deliveries, ensuring compliance with all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines. This fast-paced position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a dynamic retail environment.

The pay range for this role is $19.80 to $27.70 per hour, determined by applicant experience and qualifications. Job Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have 1-3 years retail management experience
  • Be dependable and reliable with a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Walking up to 3 miles per 8 hours
  • Strong communication skills
  • Outgoing and friendly with a positive attitude
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Ability to lift milk trays weighing up to 60 lbs and boxes weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Perform repetitive squatting, kneeling, and bending for up to 30 hours
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks

Job Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have 1-3 years retail management experience
  • Familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets preferred
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff
  • Working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
  • Strong focus on detail, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong organization and planning skills

Job Duties

  • Assist the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit
  • Responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Grocery team
  • Effectively coordinate merchandising and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork
  • Assist in leading a team that delivers high quality products, service, and customer experience
  • Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Grocery Team
  • Unload and sort through store deliveries
  • Ensure the execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations
