Among its many facilities, the Yale Golf Course stands out as a premier public golf course that offers top-notch services and amenities to students, alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the New Haven community. Known for its rich tradition and picturesque layout, the Yale Golf Course provides not only an exceptional recreational experience but also serves as an important part of Yale’s athletics department and broader campus life.
Located at 200 Conrad Drive, the Yale Golf Course features an 18-hole championship course, a driving range, practice areas, and various amenities such as a pro shop, snack bar, and food and beverage services. The golf course hosts multiple events throughout the year, including tournaments, group outings, and varsity golf team practices, requiring efficient management and exceptional operational oversight to maintain its high standards.
The position of Assistant General Manager at Yale Golf Course is an essential leadership role that supports the General Manager in overseeing all daily operations of the facility. This includes managing staff, coordinating event logistics, maintaining high levels of customer service, and ensuring effective use of technological systems such as tee time scheduling and point-of-sale platforms. The Assistant General Manager will play a central role in fostering excellent relationships with diverse stakeholders, ranging from casual golfers to varsity athletes and university departments, creating an inclusive environment committed to delivering an outstanding golfing experience.
This full-time, on-site position offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $101,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience. The role demands a blend of strong operational knowledge, customer service skills, and leadership capabilities to manage both personnel and resources effectively. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for supervising casual staff, managing inventory and retail operations, and contributing to financial planning and budget oversight, all while ensuring compliance with NCAA, Ivy League, PGA, university policies, and purchasing protocols.
Candidates must demonstrate expertise in golf facility operations, including knowledge of product merchandising trends, golf cart technology, and food service management. Effective communication skills are critical, as the role involves resolving conflicts, handling customer complaints, and maintaining smooth daily functions. The position also entails designing quality control metrics, developing training programs, and actively contributing to risk management and strategic operational improvements.
Yale University values diversity and inclusion and promotes equal employment opportunities regardless of sex, race, age, disability, veteran status, or other protected classifications. The university is committed to a tobacco-free campus and requires all employees to undergo pre-employment background screening and fulfill health requirements as applicable.
