Job Description
Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is a premier hospitality company renowned for its unique African-inspired resorts featuring America's largest indoor waterparks. A family-owned business deeply committed to exceptional guest experiences, Kalahari combines world-class dining, luxurious spas, exhilarating entertainment, and state-of-the-art convention centers to deliver a vacation experience like no other. The company places a strong emphasis on community, generosity, and creating a welcoming atmosphere where all guests and associates feel valued and respected. Through its partnership with charity: water, Kalahari also demonstrates a global commitment to social responsibility by helping provide clean water to one million people in Africa.
The Assistant General Manager - Restaurant role at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is an exciting leadership opportunity focused on overseeing one of the resort’s signature dining concepts, which include Double Cut Steak House, B-LUX Grill & Bar, and Sortino's Italian Kitchen. This single-unit oversight position entails working closely with the restaurant general manager to manage and coordinate day-to-day operations related to sales, cost control, employee retention, guest satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation both in the dining room and kitchen areas. The Assistant General Manager will serve as an inspirational leader who fosters a positive work environment, prioritizes team development, and ensures that all aspects of the restaurant operate efficiently and meet Kalahari's high standards of service.
This role demands dynamic individuals who lead with heart and dedication, striving to craft memorable dining experiences that encourage customer loyalty. Candidates must demonstrate a strong foundational knowledge of food and beverage operations, with a minimum of one year of front-of-house and/or assistant management experience within a hotel or resort setting. Experience working in full-service restaurants and managing staff supervision is essential, as well as familiarity with craft cocktails, which is preferred.
The Assistant General Manager position also calls for flexibility and availability during nights, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods, accommodating the seasonal and high-volume nature of resort dining. The role offers a chance to advance one's career in a supportive environment that values promotion from within. Kalahari provides a comprehensive benefits package to its associates, including 401(k) matching, paid time off, holiday pay, health, dental and vision insurance, employee appreciation events, resort-wide discounts, and education assistance programs.
Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is proud to be recognized by prominent organizations such as Forbes and USA TODAY for its workplace culture and quality of services. As part of the Kalahari family, employees contribute directly to delivering extraordinary experiences, innovation, and guest satisfaction across multiple locations, including Wisconsin Dells, WI; Sandusky, OH; Pocono Manor, PA; Round Rock, TX; and Spotsylvania County, VA. This role represents an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a company that values love, growth, and leadership excellence.
