Founded in 2013, the company has rapidly grown to disrupt a $50 billion industry by offering clients the freedom to choose where and how they experience hair color services—whether that be in the comfort of their own home or at one of Madison Reed's highly regarded Hair Color Bars. These Hair Color Bars provide a unique and professional environment where clients can receive a variety of expertly delivered color services by licensed cosmetologists, including permanent hair color, root touch-ups, highlights, gloss treatments, and blowout services. The company also embraces a strong omnichannel strategy, allowing customers to order or subscribe online, pick up products in-store, or schedule appointments at Hair Color Bar locations, perfectly blending convenience with expert care.
Madison Reed is deeply committed to living its core values of Love, Joy, Courage, Responsibility, and Trust. These principles guide how the company interacts not only with clients but also within every level of its fast-growing team, creating a fostering environment of inclusivity, transparency, accountability, and fun. The San Francisco-based headquarters and all Hair Color Bar locations actively promote diversity, equity, and inclusion as foundational elements of the organizational culture. Led by founder and CEO Amy Errett, Madison Reed cultivates an empowering workplace where every team member feels supported in their success and continuous growth. Moreover, the company’s dedication to innovation and client experience is unmatched, consistently earning a loyal and expanding base of color enthusiasts and advocates worldwide.

The position requires a licensed cosmetologist with a strong passion for personal and professional development, aiming to enhance leadership skills and progress towards a General Manager role. The Assistant General Manager’s mission focuses on three core areas: guest satisfaction, business management, and team development. This involves not only performing and selling hair color services and retail products but also supporting key operational functions such as staffing, inventory management, and compliance with standard operating procedures. Additionally, the role involves local marketing initiatives, community engagement, and ensuring the Hair Color Bar meets monthly sales and performance targets.
The Assistant General Manager is expected to lead by example, embodying Madison Reed’s values in all interactions and communications, resolving guest service issues, and fostering a positive, high-performance team culture. They will also serve as the acting Manager on Duty during the General Manager’s absence, providing critical support through team guidance and sometimes assisting at nearby locations. The position demands flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and other peak times based on business needs and offers competitive compensation, including base hourly pay, commissions, tips, and bonuses, with potential earnings ranging between $46 to $48 per hour depending on various factors.
Joining Madison Reed means becoming part of a company that is not only breaking the rules in hair color but also redefining the beauty industry with its commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and outstanding personal care experiences. If you are a licensed cosmetologist passionate about leadership, guest satisfaction, and operational success, this role offers a unique opportunity to grow within a highly respected and visionary organization.
