Job Description
Buffalo Wild Wings is a prominent casual dining restaurant and sports bar chain known for its wide variety of chicken wings, sauces, and an engaging atmosphere centered around televised sports events. With locations across the United States and internationally, the company caters to guests looking for a vibrant environment to enjoy great food, drinks, and sporting entertainment. As a leader in the casual dining sector, Buffalo Wild Wings emphasizes outstanding guest experiences, quality operational standards, and a supportive work culture for its team members. The brand prides itself on its signature flavors, energetic environment, and a team approach to hospitality, making it an appealing destination for both guests and employees alike.
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) role at Buffalo Wild Wings is an essential position responsible for assisting the General Manager in overseeing the entire restaurant's operation. This includes ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for guests and team members alike while driving profitability through proper revenue and cost management. The AGM is tasked with supporting various facets of restaurant operations including staffing, guest satisfaction, quality control, sales, and profit goals. This position plays an integral role in supervising restaurant shifts, motivating staff, managing compliance, and contributing to strategic planning and performance improvement.
The AGM supports the General Manager in hiring and staffing decisions, ensuring that all departments are properly staffed with motivated and well-trained team members. They collaborate closely with Department Managers to plan and execute incentive programs, promote company initiatives, and maintain high levels of guest satisfaction. Regular performance feedback, coaching, and development of department leaders are key responsibilities to keep motivation and service levels strong.
Guest relations management is another critical component of the AGM's duties, with the role requiring proactive engagement in attracting new guests and diligently managing the guest comment and complaint process. The AGM ensures timely and effective handling of complaints, coaching managers on best practices to maintain a positive guest experience.
Operational quality management forms the backbone of this position. The AGM ensures all food and beverage products meet company standards for quality, portioning, and recipe adherence. They play a pivotal role in the rollout of new menu items and consistently monitor inventory, maintenance, and administrative tasks to keep the restaurant running smoothly. Analyzing performance metrics such as P&L statements, sales data, and audit results is essential for identifying opportunities and deploying action plans to improve restaurant performance.
The AGM bears responsibility for supporting sales and profit goals, holding department managers accountable for cost controls and budget adherence. Inventory management of food and paper products is closely overseen to minimize waste and maximize profitability. Furthermore, the AGM contributes to budget development, forecasting, and communicating operational successes and challenges within the management team.
This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and the capability to inspire a fun and exciting environment for employees and guests. It typically requires at least two years of restaurant or retail management experience, with preference given to candidates who have experience managing restaurants with full bar operations. High school education or equivalent, management certification through Buffalo Wild Wings' program, and physical capability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds are also necessary. The AGM position demands strong communication skills, basic math proficiency, and a commitment to enforcing company policies and maintaining confidential information.
Overall, the Assistant General Manager at Buffalo Wild Wings plays a vital role in delivering the brand promise of exceptional food, friendly service, and an entertaining atmosphere. This position offers a dynamic career opportunity to grow within a supportive company dedicated to guest satisfaction and team development.
