Job Description

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a pivotal leadership role within the hospitality industry, typically found within hotel operations. This position supports the General Manager by overseeing the daily functions of the hotel, ensuring operational consistency, and delivering outstanding guest experiences aligned with brand standards. The hiring establishment is a reputable hotel that places a strong emphasis on service quality and operational excellence, aiming to create a welcoming environment for every guest. As a member of the management team, the Assistant General Manager works closely with department heads including Guest Services, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage to maintain high standards across all facets of the hotel. The position demands a visible and hands-on leadership approach, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the property.

The role of the Assistant General Manager centers primarily on supporting the General Manager in executing leadership activities that drive the operational success of the hotel. This includes a focus on Guest Services and Housekeeping operations to ensure that guest satisfaction remains paramount. Additionally, the AGM provides support for Food & Beverage services during the hotel’s complimentary service hours, which requires flexibility and an ability to adapt to varied operational demands. Maintaining a strong engagement with both guests and associates, the AGM ensures that service delivery is consistently elevated through proactive service, timely recognition of outstanding efforts, and real-time problem resolution. This operational leadership role is ideal for a hospitality professional who thrives in fast-paced, guest-facing environments and seeks to advance their career in hotel management.

Besides direct operational management, the Assistant General Manager plays an essential role in coaching, training, and developing team members across multiple departments, thereby strengthening the overall performance and service quality. The role includes oversight of staffing, scheduling, and labor management to optimize resource allocation and maintain efficiency. The AGM actively monitors guest satisfaction metrics and takes necessary corrective actions to improve the guest experience. Regular property inspections ensure that cleanliness, safety, and brand compliance standards are consistently upheld. By facilitating clear communication and coordination among hotel departments, the Assistant General Manager guarantees a seamless and enjoyable guest journey from arrival to departure. Strategic involvement extends to operational reporting, compliance activities, quality assurance, and support for special events, group arrivals, and peak occupancy periods. This role offers a developmental pathway toward General Manager positions, providing exposure to budgeting, ownership reporting, and performance management. The Assistant General Manager is a key influencer in shaping the guest service culture and driving operational excellence, making it a vital role for ambitious hospitality leaders committed to elevating hotel performance and guest satisfaction.
