Their resorts combine the highest standards of pet care, customer service, and operational excellence, aiming to offer pet owners peace of mind and pets a joyful stay. Known for their commitment to quality and professional care, NVA Pet Resorts operates numerous locations and is continuously expanding, offering a dynamic and fulfilling workplace for those passionate about animal welfare and customer service.
The Assistant General Manager position at NVA Pet Resorts is a critical leadership role based at the Canine Country Club - North resort in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This full-time, hands-on role involves partnering closely with the General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, cultivate an engaging workplace culture, and drive financial and service performance. The ideal candidate will be energized by leading teams, fostering a positive team environment, and achieving operational success through strong communication and strategic leadership.
In this role, the Assistant General Manager helps to ensure smooth, consistent resort operations that prioritize excellent pet care and customer experience. Key responsibilities include managing team development, engagement, and retention, as well as monitoring financial performance through revenue growth and cost control. The position requires a proactive leader who can coach and develop team members, recognize outstanding performance, and address challenges directly and fairly.
The role also includes managing guest experiences by maintaining high standards across pet care, facility cleanliness, and safety protocols while leading shifts as the Manager on Duty. The Assistant General Manager supports business growth efforts through marketing initiatives, local lead generation, and building community relationships. They also assist with performance management by tracking key metrics such as sales, labor costs, and customer satisfaction, ensuring the resort meets its strategic objectives.
Candidates for this role should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with 2 to 4 years of customer service experience, preferably in leadership positions. Strong communication skills and comfort in a hands-on leadership environment are essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems is required, along with availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Additional preferences include experience in hospitality or similar service settings and bilingual skills.
The work environment is active and dynamic, requiring the ability to stand and move throughout the resort for long periods, lift and carry weights, and respond effectively to the needs of pets, clients, and team members in a sometimes noisy environment. Maintaining professionalism in dress and communication is also important.
NVA Pet Resorts offers competitive compensation ranging from $44,000 to $48,000 annually based on experience. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) plan with employer match, health savings account (HSA) and flexible spending account (FSA) options, short- and long-term disability, and additional insurance plans. The company fosters career growth within a rapidly expanding organization and promotes a workplace culture where pets are cherished family members. The deadline to apply for this rewarding opportunity is July 31st, 2026.
