Job Description
HMSHost is a global hospitality company dedicated to delivering exceptional service experiences across a vast network of locations. Renowned for its scale, resources, and comprehensive training programs, HMSHost provides excellent opportunities for career advancement in the fast-paced food and beverage industry. The company fosters a culture of engagement, appreciation, and inclusion, creating an environment where associates feel valued and motivated to perform their best. HMSHost emphasizes managerial roles as coaching positions, focusing on guiding teams to achieve both operational excellence and a positive workplace atmosphere. The company supports its employees with competitive wages, robust benefits, and recognition programs that acknowledge outstanding performance. HMSHost’s mission centers on ensuring everyone feels great at work while providing travelers with an enjoyable experience on the move.
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) position at HMSHost primarily supports branch management by tactically executing complex operations within Quick Service Restaurants (QSR), Casual Dining, or similar restaurant environments. The AGM is responsible for ensuring the restaurant is properly prepared for business, staffed adequately, and operating in compliance with high-quality standards. This role involves supervising day-to-day activities, managing associates, and ensuring all company policies, health and safety standards, and operational procedures are strictly followed. The AGM plays a critical role in financial oversight by interpreting reports and assigning tasks to meet business objectives. Furthermore, this position encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, including employee management, customer service resolution, maintaining cleanliness and safety in the restaurant, and ensuring proper inventory and equipment maintenance.
Ideal candidates for this role possess a minimum of six years of experience in food and beverage operations, cash handling, and customer service, coupled with at least four years of supervisory experience. The AGM must effectively manage varied schedules, including opening, peak, and closing shifts, to ensure all operational aspects are covered. HMSHost expects the AGM to uphold the company’s diversity and inclusion philosophy actively and to foster a positive, collaborative work environment. The position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, reporting typically to a General Manager, Director of Operations, or a Multi Unit Manager I. This leadership role requires sound judgment and discretion in problem-solving, maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards such as HACCP, and supporting team growth through training and development opportunities.
At HMSHost, the Assistant General Manager will find a rewarding career path with extensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, generous paid time off, holiday pay, meal and transportation benefits, a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, company-paid life insurance, tuition reimbursement, an employee assistance program, and a referral bonus program. The company prides itself on providing a positive work culture that cultivates professional growth, embraces diverse perspectives, and makes work enjoyable. Aspiring leaders who thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented atmosphere and who value team collaboration and continuous learning will find HMSHost a supportive and dynamic employer committed to their success and well-being.
