The role of Assistant General Manager is pivotal in supporting the General Manager to ensure the overall success of the restaurant. This leadership position requires a seasoned professional capable of managing the day-to-day operations, executing marketing strategies, and maintaining cost controls while delivering superior guest satisfaction. The Assistant General Manager will lead and inspire a diverse team of employees, overseeing recruitment, training, scheduling, and employee relations to maintain high morale and productivity. They are expected to develop and implement business plans, monitor financial performance including cost of goods sold and labor expenses, and uphold regulatory compliance across all aspects of the operation.

This position demands strong operational knowledge, including expertise in using POS systems like Teamwork and Toast, managing payroll, handling budgets, and conducting financial analysis to identify and implement corrective actions. The Assistant General Manager will also be responsible for maintaining food safety standards and health regulations, and ensuring a safe, secure, and sanitary environment. Leadership qualities such as professionalism, effective communication, and crisis management skills are essential to successfully navigate the busy and sometimes stressful restaurant atmosphere.

Employment for this role is full-time with a competitive annual salary ranging between $75,000 and $85,000, complemented by a monthly bonus incentive program that rewards performance. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • minimum of five years experience in restaurant/bar management
  • must be at least 21 years old to serve alcoholic beverages in the State of California
  • food handlers card
  • ABC service certification
  • CPR certification and/or first aid training preferred
  • ability to work in a high-temperature environment
  • ability to move quickly and safely in tight spaces
  • ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance according to company grooming standards

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Set examples and standards for management team members regarding performance expectations, professionalism, floor and operational awareness, employee relations and trustworthiness
  • professionally administer each operational department and effectively oversee employees including recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, disciplining staff, communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising, reviewing job contributions, planning compensation actions, and enforcing policies and procedures
  • establish restaurant business plan by surveying demand, conferring with community members, identifying and evaluating competitors, preparing financial, marketing, and sales projections, analyses, and estimates
  • manage accounting, financial and cash management procedures including annual forecasts, budgets, variance analysis and corrective actions, and understand POS system related functions
  • manage payroll and accounting functions including resolving timekeeping and payroll issues
  • attract patrons through marketing, advertising, public and community relations programs, evaluating results, and tracking changing demands
  • control purchases and inventory by negotiating prices and contracts, developing supplier lists, reviewing usage reports and analyzing variances
  • maintain operations by implementing policies, procedures, production, productivity, quality and patron-service standards and system improvements
  • maintain patron satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating and auditing food, beverage, and service offerings and building customer relationships
  • maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by enforcing sanitation and health regulations and security systems
  • enforce and comply with all regulatory, employment, wage and hour, and legal compliance policies and procedures
