Job Description

Din Tai Fung North America is a distinguished restaurant group renowned for its commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience, specializing in high-quality, authentic Asian cuisine. Located at 1547 Disneyland Dr, Anaheim, CA, Din Tai Fung encompasses a premier casual upscale dining environment focused on excellence in service, culinary artistry, and guest satisfaction. As a globally recognized brand, Din Tai Fung prides itself on its dedication to innovation, hospitality, and cultivating a team-oriented culture that fosters professional growth and development for its employees.

The role of Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Din Tai Fung North America is a pivotal leadership position centered on supporting the General Manager in managing the restaurant's daily operations with a focus on front-of-house excellence. With a competitive annual base salary ranging from $112,000 to $139,950, the AGM position includes eligibility for the annual incentive plan contingent on individual and company performance. The Assistant General Manager is tasked with leading the Service Manager and Assistant Service Manager teams while collaborating closely with the Bar Manager to ensure a seamless and consistent brand experience throughout all guest interactions. This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a deep commitment to quality service and financial performance.

In this capacity, the AGM will be responsible for workforce management, ensuring proper scheduling and labor compliance, coaching employees and managers to uphold brand standards, and implementing development programs to build a robust leadership pipeline. Recruiting responsibilities are integral to this role, including conducting interviews and hiring decisions for non-exempt back-of-house staff and assisting with managerial hires.

Operational oversight encompasses validating front-of-house tasks such as opening and closing checklists, service audits, and maintaining adherence to guest service standards through various operational platforms. Communication is critical, as the AGM must teach and reinforce brand standards while keeping the team informed about promotions, menu changes, and service initiatives. Close coordination with the Bar Manager helps maintain consistent messaging across departments.

The Assistant General Manager collaborates with the General Manager to develop staffing plans and succession strategies, driving key guest metrics related to hospitality, table turn times, and operational performance indicators. Leading operational meetings and facilitating clear, action-oriented communication supports the development of FOH managers.

Key responsibilities include upholding service excellence, ensuring compliance with food safety and health regulations, and maintaining cleanliness and appearance within front-of-house areas. The AGM is also expected to verify certification and training completion for all front-of-house team members, ensuring proficiency in service steps, POS systems, and guest recovery techniques.

Candidates for this role must be prepared to travel to California for approximately three months of training and possess a minimum of two years of restaurant management experience within casual or upscale casual dining environments. A strong financial acumen and comprehensive understanding of full-service dining operations are essential for success.

Din Tai Fung North America emphasizes inclusivity and equal opportunity employment, encouraging applicants from diverse backgrounds to join their dynamic team. With a commitment to fostering an environment that promotes growth from within, the company offers a range of competitive benefits to support employee well-being and work-life balance.
