Job Description

Aba is a Mediterranean restaurant located on South Congress at Music Lane in Austin, TX. The brand has expanded beyond Austin, with additional locations in Chicago, IL, and Nashville, TN. The concept of Aba, which means father in Hebrew, represents a unique culinary experience that blends Mediterranean flavors with California influences, creating a vibrant and enticing menu. The restaurant is led by Top Chef Alum and Chef Partner CJ Jacobson, who brings a modern approach to Mediterranean cooking, emphasizing high-quality ingredients and innovative techniques. Aba’s beverage program is equally distinguished, featuring spirits and rare wines sourced from lesser-known Mediterranean regions, offering guests a curated and authentic taste experience.

As part of Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants, Aba Austin benefits from the support of a nationally recognized culinary-driven company that manages more than 130 locations, embodying a Culture of Caring that prioritizes people and diversity. Lettuce is committed to providing career-long training, growth opportunities, and comprehensive benefits to its team members, fostering an environment where unique perspectives and diverse talents thrive.

Currently, Aba Austin is hiring for an Assistant General Manager position, targeting individuals with at least two years of experience in an assistant general manager role within a full-service restaurant setting. This is a salaried position, offering a competitive salary range between $70,000 and $90,000 per year, along with quarterly bonuses. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, managing and developing teams, and supporting the general manager in financial, administrative, and customer service functions.

The Assistant General Manager supervises daily opening and closing shifts, guarantees an exceptional experience for guests and employees alike, and provides leadership that promotes teamwork and the company’s Culture of Caring. Key responsibilities include managing inventory, ordering supplies, handling customer and employee feedback, and supporting hiring, training, and onboarding processes for back-of-house employees. This role demands excellent judgment, patience, and courteousness in dealing with guests, vendors, and staff. The position requires flexibility in working various shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and potentially multiple sites, sometimes necessitating overnight travel.

Joining AbaAustin as an Assistant General Manager means becoming part of a vibrant team that values growth, innovation, and quality in the restaurant industry. The role offers more than just routine duties; it calls for an energetic leader capable of driving sales, managing costs, and fostering a positive working environment with strong team dynamics. Aba and Lettuce Entertain You provide a platform for career development, combined with extensive benefits like health insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, restaurant discounts, and support programs focusing on mental health and wellness.
