Catering a Fresco is the exclusive food and beverage partner of Overture Center for the Arts, a renowned cultural hub that hosts a wide variety of performances and events. As an established catering service provider, Catering a Fresco specializes in delivering exceptional culinary experiences for weddings, corporate events, nonprofit galas, private dinners, and large-scale special occasions such as full-building events including backstage services. This role is for an experienced and hospitality-focused Assistant General Manager who will lead the catering and private events operations. The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the Director of Operations and another Assistant General Manager responsible for performance-related services, Broadway/show support, and lobby operations. The primary focus of this role will be on catering services for weddings, corporate events, galas, private dinners, and comprehensive building events, including backstage coordination. This position demands hands-on management skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple events simultaneously. The Assistant General Manager will oversee event logistics from initial planning through execution, manage diverse teams during events, and maintain seamless communication with clients and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include leading catering event operations with a focus on exceptional service delivery, coordinating closely with leadership to align standards, staffing, and financial goals, and managing logistics such as setups, timelines, and service flow. This role also encompasses client engagement as the primary contact before and during events to ensure flawless execution of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). Additionally, the Assistant General Manager will assist with hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management of front-of-house and back-of-house staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment. Inventory management, cost control, labor oversight, and operational documentation such as production plans and post-event recaps are integral parts of this role.

Job Requirements

  • 2-4 years of management or supervisory experience in catering, banquets, events, or high-volume food and beverage operations
  • Demonstrated ability to execute multiple simultaneous events with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong operational and logistics skills with experience working from BEOs and event plans
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends aligned with event volume
  • ServSafe and Responsible Seller certifications or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience leading teams of 15 or more employees preferred

Job Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of management or supervisory experience in catering, banquets, events, or high-volume food and beverage operations

  • Ability to obtain ServSafe and Responsible Seller certifications within 90 days if not already certified
  • Experience in managing large teams of 15 or more employees preferred
  • Comfortable interacting with clients and managing large staff teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

Job Duties

  • Lead the catering and event operations, ensuring exceptional execution across weddings, receptions, corporate events, and special functions
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure alignment on standards, staffing, and financial performance
  • Partner with the Assistant General Manager - Venue & Performance Operations to coordinate shared resources, staffing, communication, and overall guest experience
  • Manage event logistics including setups, timelines, staff coordination, and service flow
  • Serve as a primary contact for clients before and during events
  • ensure details in BEOs are executed flawlessly
  • Assist with hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management of a team of 40+ FOH and BOH staff
  • Support inventory, cost control, and labor management
  • Maintain operational systems and documentation including BEOs, production plans, checklists, and post-event recaps
  • Lead floor operations during events, modeling strong hospitality and problem-solving
