Job Description

Border Foods began as a vision shared between two brothers who wanted to create an authentic Mexican restaurant experience. Since its inception, it has evolved into one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in the United States, known for its commitment to exceptional food quality, service, and community engagement. As a family-owned business, Border Foods emphasizes a people-first manifesto, fostering a culture where employees at all levels—from cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers—are valued, supported, and empowered to grow. With a presence spanning numerous restaurant locations, Border Foods continues to innovate in delivering the Taco Bell experience while upholding the core values that define its identity and success.

This role of Assistant Manager at Border Foods is more than just a management position; it is a mission-driven opportunity to reinforce and live by the company’s core values: Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. The Assistant Manager acts as a linchpin, ensuring a positive and safe environment that encourages both team cohesion and superior guest experiences. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing all restaurant operations, securing consistent high-quality food and service, and building a motivated team dedicated to excellence.

The Assistant Manager at Border Foods is entrusted with operational leadership that includes strategic deployment of workforce scheduling, performance monitoring, and accountability to all team members. These responsibilities ensure that customers receive friendly and efficient service in a welcoming atmosphere that meets health and safety standards in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws. Beyond operational tasks, the Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in talent management—sourcing, hiring, training, and developing team members—while fostering a culture of recognition and support that drives employee engagement and retention.

This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $15 to $30 per hour, complemented by a bonus program that can yield up to an additional $20,000 annually. Employees also benefit from flexible schedules, educational programs such as GED and tuition reimbursement, scholarship opportunities, and comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage even for part-time team members. Additional perks include free food, paid vacation, sick days, holiday pay, and a vacation donation program. The culture at Border Foods is uniquely encouraging, focusing heavily on career growth and providing a supportive environment where individuals can thrive and shape the future of the company.

Taking on the role of Assistant Manager demands a proactive leader who balances operational expertise with interpersonal skills to solve problems effectively and motivate their team. The ideal candidate is experienced in restaurant or retail management, familiar with sales strategies, profit and loss statements, recruiting, and training. They must be compliant with food safety standards such as ServeSafe certification, adept at labor and inventory controls, and capable of managing the dynamic and sometimes demanding schedule common in food service industries.

Overall, this role is perfect for someone passionate about leading teams, improving guest experiences, and growing within an established franchise that values its community and employees. Border Foods prides itself on being an inclusive and equal opportunity employer, welcoming applicants of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Candidates will be joining a forward-thinking organization that is deeply committed to making lives better—starting with its own family of employees and extending to every customer served.
