Job Description
Border Foods began as a simple idea between two brothers to open a Mexican restaurant and has since flourished into one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America. As a company, Border Foods embodies a people-first mantra that focuses on fostering a supportive, inclusive environment where every team member can thrive and grow. From cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers and beyond, the organization strives to bring to life their core values of Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. This dedication to a positive company culture forms the foundation of Border Foods’ success and its reputation as a premier employer in the fast-food industry.
At Border Foods, employment goes beyond just a job. It is an opportunity to join a family that is committed to making lives better—not only for the customers who enjoy their food but also for the employees who contribute to each restaurant’s operation. Whether new to the industry or a seasoned professional, employees at Border Foods receive access to career development, education programs including GED and tuition reimbursement, scholarship opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package. These benefits are offered to all team members, including part-time employees, which demonstrates the company’s commitment to valuing its workforce.
The role of Assistant Manager at Border Foods carries a crucial leadership responsibility to uphold and reinforce the company’s core values every day. This position involves overseeing the operation of the entire restaurant while building and maintaining a strong team dedicated to providing excellent customer experiences. The Assistant Manager is tasked with creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where employees can excel and the guest experience is consistently positive. This leadership role ensures the smooth coordination of shift leaders and team members, guaranteeing a friendly atmosphere and quality food service.
Assistant Managers at Border Foods are offered competitive pay ranging from $14 to $35 per hour, along with a flexible schedule and the potential to earn up to $20,000 annually in bonuses. The company emphasizes growth and development, expecting Assistant Managers to serve as role models by demonstrating accountability, integrity, and excellence in all facets of restaurant management. This includes strategic planning, managing profit and loss statements, hiring and training staff, controlling labor and inventory, as well as ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
This position demands a minimum commitment of 50 hours per week and may require work during early mornings, evenings, late nights, weekends, and some holidays. Assistant Managers operate within a non-exempt status, and while performing the role, must be prepared to manage the physical demands of the job such as standing, sitting, lifting, bending, and moving throughout their shift—with or without reasonable accommodation.
Border Foods prides itself on being an Equal Opportunity Employer that values diversity and inclusion, explicitly welcoming minorities, women, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities. The company does not discriminate based on gender identity or sexual orientation. Candidates for this role should note that their employment will be with Border Foods LLC, the franchisee, and not with Taco Bell Corporation or its affiliates. Benefits, wages, and conditions are controlled by Border Foods as an independent business owner.
