Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE: CMG) is a renowned fast-casual restaurant chain that is dedicated to cultivating a better world through its commitment to responsibly sourced, classically cooked, real food made from wholesome ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Established as a leader and innovator in the food industry, Chipotle continues to challenge the norms of traditional fast food by emphasizing quality, sustainability, and customer experience. With restaurants located across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, Chipotle is unique among major restaurant companies for owning and operating all its restaurants in North America and Europe directly. This hands-on approach ensures consistent quality and aligns with its mission to make better food accessible to everyone while advancing sustainable business practices and digital innovations.
The company culture at Chipotle revolves around a strong set of values focused on respect, inclusivity, and opportunities for employee growth. Chipotle is recognized for fostering a people-first environment where all employees are encouraged to reach their full potential regardless of race, gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. As part of its commitment to equity and accessibility, the company also offers reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities.
The Apprenticeship program at Chipotle presents a dynamic opportunity for individuals passionate about the food industry who aspire to become future General Managers. This role is designed to support Chipotle's rapid expansion, as the brand opens a new restaurant nearly every day, requiring competent leaders to sustain its growth trajectory. Apprentices gain invaluable hands-on experience by assisting with day-to-day restaurant operations, overseeing guest experiences, managing teams, and learning key business management skills including scheduling, profit and loss (P&L) management, sales forecasting, recruiting, and compliance.
As part of the Apprentices role, individuals are expected to be 'Guest Obsessed,' maintaining superior standards of hospitality and ensuring the delivery of exceptional service. They act as on-duty leaders responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the restaurant, including managing orders, train and develop crew members, uphold strict food safety standards, and maintain a clean, welcoming dining environment. Apprentices work an average 50-hour week that includes evenings and weekends, which reflects the busy nature of the fast-casual dining sector.
This position serves as a critical stepping stone for those aiming to ascend into General Manager roles within Chipotle, offering continuous career development opportunities, supported by tuition assistance programs and a quarterly bonus plan. Employees in this role benefit from comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, paid time off, and holiday closures, reinforcing Chipotle's commitment to employee well-being and work-life balance.
The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment that demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in varying temperature conditions. Effective communication skills are paramount to interact successfully with team members and guests alike. Chipotle’s growth and success are driven by passionate individuals eager to learn, lead, and cultivate a better food future, making the Apprenticeship an outstanding opportunity for those ready to develop their careers in an innovative, values-driven restaurant company.
