Job Description

Border Foods is one of the largest, privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America, founded from a simple idea between two brothers to open a Mexican restaurant. Today, it has grown into a successful and expansive operation that embraces a people-first mantra. The company takes pride in its commitment to the well-being and growth of its employees, fostering an environment where everyone from cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers can learn, evolve, and shape the future in alignment with the company’s mission to make lives better. At its core, Border Foods values the principles of Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment—principles that are deeply embedded in its corporate culture and daily operations.

The Assistant Manager role at Border Foods is a pivotal position responsible for the smooth operation of an entire restaurant. The Assistant Manager is a key leader within the team, charged with reinforcing the company's core values and building a strong, unified staff dedicated to delivering excellent service and high-quality food. Border Foods offers a dynamic work environment where employees can thrive and grow their careers, supported by a culture that encourages continuous learning and development.

This role is integral in ensuring customer satisfaction by fostering a welcoming, safe, and organized restaurant atmosphere, meeting health and safety standards, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences through fast and friendly service. Assistant Managers at Border Foods are empowered to lead effectively by scheduling appropriately, monitoring team performance, conducting training, and upholding accountability standards.

In addition to operational duties, Assistant Managers at Border Foods are involved in strategic aspects such as profit delivery through financial management including interpreting profit and loss statements, sourcing and hiring excellent team members, minimizing losses through strict policy adherence, and managing labor and inventory controls effectively. This role offers opportunities for bonus compensation with a potential to earn up to an extra $20,000 annually, flexible scheduling, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, even for part-time employees. Other benefits include education programs like GED and tuition reimbursement, scholarship opportunities, paid time off including vacation, sick, and holiday pay, a vacation donation program, and free food.

This position demands strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a hands-on approach to operational management. Ideal candidates will have a background in restaurant or retail management or related combined experience and education. They should be prepared to work a minimum of 50 hours per week, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts as needed. Border Foods seeks individuals who are ServeSafe certified, at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess a valid driver’s license and insurance.

By joining Border Foods, you become part of a family-oriented company with a rich history and a commitment to fostering careers within the restaurant industry.
