Job Description
Border Foods began as a dream between two brothers to establish a Mexican restaurant and has since expanded into one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America. With a strong foundation rooted in family values and a people-first approach, Border Foods emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and empowerment to create an environment where both employees and guests feel valued and supported. Known for its commitment to excellence and positive culture, Border Foods actively fosters career growth opportunities and provides resources like education and scholarship programs to help employees evolve and succeed.
As an Assistant Manager at Border Foods, you will embrace and reinforce the core values of Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. Your mission is to positively influence the restaurant environment and enhance the experience of every employee and guest. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the entire operation of the restaurant, ensuring consistent delivery of quality food and friendly service, and building a strong, effective team. Border Foods believes in creating a safe, welcoming workplace where diversity thrives and people have the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.
The Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in motivating and guiding team members, maintaining operational standards, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. By focusing on strategic planning and financial management, you will contribute to the restaurant's success through profit maximization, labor control, and waste reduction. A commitment to empowering others through coaching, learning opportunities, and open communication is central to this role.
Working at Border Foods offers competitive wages ranging from $14 to $35 per hour, flexible scheduling to accommodate diverse needs, and a robust bonus program where Assistant General Managers can earn an additional $20,000 annually. Alongside these financial incentives, comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage are available to all employees, even part-time. Other advantages include paid vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, free meals, and a vacation donation program demonstrating a culture of care and support.
Border Foods values integrity and accountability in all actions and expects team leaders to hold their teams to these high standards. The Assistant Manager ensures the team delivers fast and friendly service and upholds strict quality and safety standards, while fostering a workplace atmosphere that encourages teamwork and mutual respect. Handling employee concerns and customer complaints with sincerity and professionalism is important in maintaining Border Foods' reputation for excellent service.
With a focus on excellence, the Assistant Manager will lead the recruitment, hiring, and training of new team members. The role requires effective financial acumen for managing P&L statements and controlling operational costs. Building a recognition culture that motivates employees and creates a positive environment is also a key responsibility.
This position requires a minimum of one year of restaurant or retail experience, along with sales, recruiting, and training expertise. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Certification such as ServeSafe is preferred, and the role demands availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. The Assistant Manager will work approximately 50 hours per week, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to operational needs.
Border Foods is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity in the workplace. As a franchisee of Taco Bell, Border Foods operates independently, offering unique wage and benefit programs designed to support and reward its team. Joining Border Foods means becoming part of a family dedicated to making lives better through outstanding food, service, and workplace culture.
