The role of Assistant General Manager at Hampton Inn Daytona Shores - Oceanfront is integral to maintaining these standards of excellence. This position requires a proactive leader who can oversee daily operations with a focus on guest satisfaction, cleanliness, and quality management. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for performing daily inspections of guest rooms and public spaces, ensuring that all mechanical equipment is functioning properly, and that cleanliness standards are consistently met. They play a key role in onboarding and training new team members to uphold service excellence and checklist adherence. The role demands active management during peak times such as check-in, check-out, and meal periods, fostering a culture of positivity and engagement among staff.

This position not only involves operational management but also requires financial oversight, including inventory management, purchase order processing, invoice sign-off, and adherence to budgetary constraints. The Assistant General Manager ensures compliance with all quality assurance protocols, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance schedules. The role requires physical stamina to meet the demands of walking, standing for extended periods, and performing inspections, as well as compliance with legal age and licensing requirements when applicable.

Job Duties

  • Greet guests happily upon arrival and throughout their stay with a smile
  • Use guests' names whenever possible to ensure they feel welcomed
  • Work together with team members to contribute to guest satisfaction scores
  • Handle challenging guest situations with hospitality and urgency
  • Maintain strong knowledge of hotel facilities and amenities
  • Support all groups and events held at the hotel
  • Understand and utilize relevant technology for the role
  • Answer all incoming calls with friendly service using the approved greeting
  • Keep all workspaces clean and well-organized
  • Participate in cleaning guest rooms and public spaces as needed
  • Greet guests while cleaning with a smile and by name if possible
  • Complete all operational checklists accurately and on time every shift
  • Prepare accurate and timely handover reports for shift communication
  • Wear a clean, approved uniform, be well-groomed, wear a nametag and smile at all times
  • Communicate clearly, honestly, and professionally with team members
  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude by surpassing traditional role expectations
  • Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming environment
  • Conduct daily walks including guest rooms and public spaces to ensure service and cleanliness
  • Supervise Guest Service team members during shifts and peak times
  • Provide one-on-one training to new team members
  • Oversee daily room inspections and checklist adherence
  • Assist in required inventory counts
  • Support onboarding processes for new team members
  • Review time clock punches for policy compliance
  • Complete daily summary and night audit processes
  • Start and complete shift handover reports and upload to report storage
  • Ensure all purchases follow proper purchase order processes
  • Process invoices according to proper time periods
  • Adhere to brand Quality Assurance expectations and conduct self-audits
  • Certify fire and life safety inspections are up to date
  • Escalate service or delivery failures appropriately
  • Confirm preventative maintenance tasks have been performed correctly
  • Monitor adherence to established work schedules
  • Cover open department head positions when necessary
