Job Description
Border Foods is one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in the United States, rooted in a vision that began with two brothers opening a Mexican restaurant. Since its inception, Border Foods has established a strong reputation for prioritizing people above all else, fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture that emphasizes growth, learning, and teamwork. With a deep commitment to its Core Values—Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment—Border Foods strives to create an environment where employees and guests alike can thrive. The company nurtures a family-like atmosphere where every team member is valued and given opportunities for personal and professional development. Border Foods' dedication to its employees is evident in its comprehensive benefits package, flexible scheduling, competitive pay, and a positive work culture focused on collaboration and mutual respect.
The Assistant Manager role at Border Foods is vital to maintaining and enhancing the operational excellence and customer experience of their Taco Bell restaurants. Serving as a key leader within the team, the Assistant Manager is responsible for reinforcing the company’s Core Values in everyday operations. This position requires a dynamic individual capable of managing the entire restaurant's functioning, from team building and training to ensuring high-quality food service and customer satisfaction. The Assistant Manager acts as a liaison between the employees and higher management, ensuring that the restaurant runs smoothly while fostering a safe, welcoming, and motivating environment. This role involves strategic planning, staff development, and hands-on operational leadership, including managing schedules, overseeing cash handling, maintaining health and safety standards, and driving financial performance through effective use of profit and loss statements.
Additionally, Assistant Managers play a crucial role in building strong cross-functional teams, resolving employee issues, and navigating challenging situations with empathy and decisiveness. They are instrumental in creating a culture that recognizes and celebrates employee achievements, which, in turn, promotes a positive work environment and high morale. Fluid communication skills and an ability to motivate diverse teams are essential, as is a strong focus on customer service excellence through fast, friendly, and quality food delivery.
Border Foods also offers numerous growth opportunities for Assistant Managers who demonstrate leadership qualities and commitment, including educational programs like GED preparation and tuition reimbursement, certification initiatives such as ServeSafe, scholarship opportunities, and a meaningful bonus program with potential additional earnings of up to $20,000 annually. Moreover, part-time employees are eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits, which underscores Border Foods’ dedication to employee well-being. Flexible scheduling, paid vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and a vacation donation program further contribute to a balanced work-life environment.
This role requires candidates to have hands-on experience in restaurant or retail management, including skills in sales growth, recruiting, training, and financial oversight. The Assistant Manager must be capable of working diverse shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays when needed. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance, and hold ServeSafe certification. The physical demands include lifting, standing, bending, and other movements required during work hours, which can be accommodated reasonably.
Border Foods is a proud equal opportunity employer dedicated to diversity and inclusion, valuing minorities, women, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities. It is important to note that employment is with the independent franchisee of Taco Bell, not Taco Bell Corp. The Assistant Manager position offers an hourly wage ranging from $14 to $35, reflecting the role's responsibilities and the candidate's expertise. Joining Border Foods means becoming part of a motivated family committed to making lives better through exceptional food service and an empowering workplace culture.
