This job opening is for the position of Assistant General Manager at the Hampton Inn & Suites - Grand Rapids Downtown, an exciting opportunity for a seasoned hotel professional seeking to elevate their career in a dynamic and supportive environment. The Assistant General Manager’s primary role is to assist the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of hotel operations, ensuring exceptional guest service, and supporting staff in fulfilling their duties efficiently. This position requires a proactive leader with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities such as administration, human resources, revenue management, and operational oversight. The Assistant General Manager will act as the Manager on Duty in the General Manager’s absence, making critical decisions and maintaining the flow of hotel activities.

The role involves collaborating closely with the General Manager and various hotel departments, from front desk operations to sales management and housekeeping. Job Requirements

  • 2-3 years of hotel experience preferably in a supervisor role

Job Duties

  • Act as Manager on Duty in the absence of the General Manager
  • Assist General Manager with administrative and human resources duties
  • Analyze and resolve work-related problems to achieve goals
  • Participate in revenue management decisions and hold staff accountable for revenue goals
  • Ensure front desk employees adhere to rate and credit policies
  • Maintain knowledge of brand operating systems
  • Assist with credit report reviews and account receivables
  • Manage online ordering of supplies
  • Support sales manager in actively selling to groups and extended stay guests
  • Review and resolve discrepancy reports
  • Set up and audit controls for operational policies
  • Know and implement emergency procedures
  • Train staff on excellent guest service
  • Report unusual occurrences promptly to General Manager
