Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE: CMG) is a prominent fast-casual restaurant chain known for its innovative approach to fast food. With a commitment to serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked real food that contains wholesome ingredients without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, Chipotle stands out in the food industry. The company operates restaurants not only across the United States but also in Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Unlike many other large restaurant chains, Chipotle owns and operates all its North American and European locations, allowing it to maintain high standards and consistency throughout its operations.
Chipotle’s mission is centered on cultivating a better world through food. The brand emphasizes direct support for sustainable farming and food practices, setting itself apart by fostering conversations about the future of food. Its strong focus on digital innovation, technology, and sustainable business practices underscores its leadership and commitment to evolving the fast-food experience. Chipotle aims to make better food accessible to everyone while creating a workplace that values respect, diversity, and equal opportunity. This approach has made the company a leader and innovator in the food sector for many years, drawing employees and customers who share a passion for quality food and genuine hospitality.
The Apprenticeship role at Chipotle offers a unique opportunity for individuals looking to develop their leadership skills and grow into General Manager positions within the company. This position is designed for those with a strong desire to learn what it takes to manage day-to-day restaurant operations effectively. Apprentices gain hands-on experience by supporting restaurant management functions such as hiring, training, scheduling, P&L management, sales forecasting, and ensuring excellent guest experiences. The role demands someone who is guest-obsessed and committed to upholding Chipotle's standards of hospitality and operational excellence.
Apprentices are expected to act as leaders on duty, overseeing fast and accurate service alongside positive guest interactions. They play an active role in maintaining food safety, compliance, and cleanliness in the restaurant. The role typically involves working a 50-hour workweek with overtime, including evenings and weekends. Chipotle values individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm for people development and leadership potential, offering structured training programs and resources to help Apprentices grow their career within the brand.
This role is both physically and mentally engaging, requiring the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and dining environment, interact positively with guests, and manage multiple operational tasks simultaneously. Apprentices must be able to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, work across varied temperatures, and maintain strong communication with both team members and customers.
In return, Chipotle offers a comprehensive compensation package including base pay ranging from $17.80 to $19.79 per hour, quarterly cash bonuses, and a wide array of benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k retirement plan, paid time off, tuition assistance, and holiday closures. Chipotle’s culture of career growth and employee development means Apprentices start on a path to professional advancement in a company that is dedicated to making a positive impact on the world through food and leadership.
