Job Description
Market Broiler is a well-established restaurant brand that first opened its doors in Riverside, California in 1989. Over the past three decades, the flagship location has earned a stellar reputation, consistently winning the "Best for Seafood" award and being recognized as the best restaurant in Riverside by local newspaper readers. This long-standing success reflects Market Broiler's commitment to quality seafood dining experiences and excellent customer service. Since its inception, Market Broiler has expanded to include five additional locations across California, situated in Fremont, Huntington Beach, Orange, Ontario, and Simi Valley. These locations each offer a unique ambiance suited to their neighborhoods, ranging from casual and intimate settings to larger venues geared towards a lively entertainment atmosphere.
The position of Assistant General Manager at Market Broiler provides an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing restaurant group. This role is designed for individuals with experience in full-service restaurant management, ideally with 2-4 years of relevant background. As an Assistant General Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the restaurant, maintaining high standards of customer service, and supporting the overall financial health of the business. This is an exempt salaried position offering a competitive salary range from $70,304 to $90,000 annually, depending on location and experience, along with a bonus potential of 5-10%. Market Broiler supports its leadership team through a comprehensive training program and a supportive management structure that encourages professional growth.
In this role, you will oversee day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations such as alcohol beverage service laws. Responsibilities include managing staffing levels to meet service demands and financial goals, handling guest feedback and complaints professionally, and maintaining operational readiness by making sure all supplies, equipment, and uniforms are available. You will work closely with other department leaders, including the Restaurant General Manager and Chef, to communicate challenges related to food quality and service delivery. The Assistant General Manager position often requires stepping in for the General Manager when absent, highlighting the trust and responsibility placed in this role.
Market Broiler values its employees and offers a variety of benefits designed to promote work-life balance, wellness, and career development. Beyond competitive pay and bonus opportunities, benefits include paid time off that begins accruing from the first day of employment, paid meals during shifts, and a monthly dining allowance to enjoy meals with family and friends. The benefits package also features a comprehensive suite of health coverages including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and both short-term and long-term disability insurance. Additionally, employees are eligible for participation in a retirement plan and can take advantage of a three-week paid sabbatical, underscoring the company’s commitment to employee well-being and longevity.
Market Broiler maintains a commitment to fair hiring practices and participates in the E-Verify program. The selected candidate will be subject to a background check as a standard part of the hiring process. If you are passionate about hospitality, have a proactive leadership style, and want to be part of a successful and respected seafood restaurant brand, Market Broiler encourages you to apply and discover what makes this company a great place to grow your career.
