The Assistant General Manager position at SDCM Restaurant Group is a critical leadership role designed for an experienced professional who can support, lead, and inspire the team to achieve operational excellence. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including meeting restaurant financial objectives by developing strategic and annual budgets and forecasts, establishing banking relationships, and analyzing financial variances to initiate corrective actions. The Assistant General Manager is also tasked with controlling purchases and inventory through negotiation, preferred supplier list development, and regular analysis of usage reports.
In addition to financial management, the Assistant General Manager will drive patron attraction and retention by implementing effective marketing, advertising, public relations, and community outreach programs, while continuously evaluating results and adapting to changing market demands. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in restaurant management or assistant general manager role
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial objectives and controls
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Valid food safety certification
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience in restaurant management or similar leadership role
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of marketing and community engagement strategies
- Understanding of health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships
Job Duties
- Meet restaurant financial objectives by developing financing, establishing banking relationships, preparing strategic and annual forecasts and budgets, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions, establishing and monitoring financial controls, developing and implementing strategies to increase average meal checks
- Attract patrons by developing and implementing marketing, advertising, public and community relations programs, evaluating program results, identifying and tracking changing demands
- Control purchases and inventory by meeting with the General Manager, Director of Operations and Bar Manager, negotiating prices and contracts, developing preferred supplier lists, reviewing and evaluating usage reports, analyzing variances, taking corrective actions
- Maintain patron satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and auditing food, beverage, and service offerings, initiating improvements, building relationships with preferred patrons
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures, complying with health and legal regulations, maintaining security systems
