The Assistant General Manager position is central to the restaurant's operational success. This role supports the Restaurant General Manager by enforcing brand standards and inspiring the team through leadership and mentorship. The Assistant General Manager leads by example to cultivate a positive work culture, focusing on training, coaching, and employee recognition to ensure a high level of customer service. This role includes stepping in for the General Manager during their absence, overseeing daily operations, making critical decisions, and maintaining operational excellence.

Working 50 hours per week, with 40 hours at regular pay and 10 hours compensated at time and a half, this role offers a balanced approach to workload and remuneration. The position requires a hands-on leader who takes ownership of both people and financial management aspects including labor, inventory, cash control, and profit and loss oversight. The Assistant General Manager plays a key role in recruitment, fostering a culture of equity and inclusion, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

This role is ideal for a motivated individual with at least three years of experience in restaurant or retail management, ready to contribute to the restaurant’s success and growth. Competitive pay ranging from $48,000 to $60,000 annually is offered, with compensation varying based on location and experience. Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of restaurant or retail management experience
  • Assist with profit and loss management by following cash control and security procedures, maintaining inventory, managing labor, and reviewing financial reports
  • Ensure all employees receive proper training and resources
  • Champion company culture and values, promoting equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Lead efforts in individual and team recognition, collaboration, and motivation
  • Identify and recruit exceptional talent, supporting the General Manager in the hiring process
  • Possess strong communication skills for conducting performance appraisals, taking disciplinary action, and motivating and training employees
  • Adhere to corporate policies, procedures, and Occupational Health and Food Safety standards

Job Duties

  • Ensure consistent customer satisfaction by effectively modeling the MIC success routine and prioritizing customer needs
  • Oversee team members' adherence to shift excellence responsibilities, maintain high food safety standards, and uphold core excellence
  • Take charge of restaurant operations in the General Manager's absence
  • Collaborate with the General Manager in assessing team performance, providing ongoing constructive and positive feedback
  • Address employee relations issues as they arise, determine immediate resolutions or escalate to the General Manager when necessary
  • Assist in sourcing, recruiting, interviewing, and hiring team members, while driving a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Assist with profit and loss management including cash control, security procedures, inventory maintenance, and labor management
  • Review financial reports and take appropriate actions to optimize performance
  • Support the General Manager in facility maintenance and ensure health and safety standards are consistently followed
