The Assistant Food & Beverage Operations Manager at Hyatt plays a vital role in supporting and managing the property’s Food & Beverage operations. This full-time management position offers a competitive salary of $65,000 to $75,000 per year and encompasses responsibilities that focus on the strategic vision, operational execution, and financial performance of all food and beverage outlets within the hotel. These outlets include restaurants, lounges, pool areas, markets, digital dining platforms, and banquet and conference services. The role is integral in driving revenue growth, optimizing profitability, and delivering an exceptional and uniform guest experience across all food and beverage venues and events.

In this role, the Assistant Manager will support and manage the Banquet Department alongside other hotel departments, overseeing event setups, banquet beverage services, and coordination with culinary, catering, and stewarding teams. Leadership responsibilities include supervising and motivating the banquet team, ensuring operational compliance with health and safety standards, and maintaining Hyatt’s quality and service protocols. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for creating innovative décor for banquet functions, conducting daily walkthroughs of banquet areas and function spaces, and developing ideas for special and holiday events.

Financially, the Assistant Food & Beverage Operations Manager will analyze operational data to implement strategies that improve revenue and profitability, manage pricing in collaboration with purchasing teams, control purchasing expenditures, and optimize staff scheduling for cost-effective labor management. Administrative duties may also encompass payroll facilitation, reporting, forecasts, and inventory oversight. Additionally, the role involves working with the Food & Beverage Operations Manager on special activations and ensuring engagement through platforms such as Open Table.

The position demands excellent guest and client relations skills, serving as the primary contact for high-profile clients during event executions, fostering strong relationships, and ensuring contractual obligations are met. The Assistant Manager monitors guest satisfaction feedback and implements corrective actions to continuously enhance service delivery. They also ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of event spaces and equipment.

Safety and compliance are paramount responsibilities, requiring the enforcement of health, safety, and sanitation standards in adherence to local, state, and federal regulations. The Assistant Manager ensures all staff are trained in emergency procedures and legal requirements such as TIPS certification for alcohol service.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Support and manage banquet department while working closely with other hotel departments
  • Supervise, empower, lead, coach and motivate banquet team including captains, food servers, and lead house attendants
  • Assist hotel in reaching top box service scores on Meeting Planner surveys and ensure communication and understanding with guests and departments
  • Manage appropriate and timely setup of all functions and meetings maintaining food, beverage and meeting standards
  • Review staffing and equipment needs proactively
  • Coordinate and execute all events with culinary, stewarding, catering, CS, CS floor and beverage teams
  • Develop innovative and creative décor for banquet function space
  • Oversee short- and long-term banquet functions in front and back of house
  • Perform daily walkthroughs for compliance with health, sanitation and Hyatt standards
  • Develop ideas for special events and holiday functions
  • Oversee execution of banquets coordinating with clients and internal teams
  • Monitor inventory, control purchasing, manage supplier relationships
  • Work with events departments to coordinate banquet events from small meetings to conferences and weddings
  • Coordinate with sales and events teams to align offerings with brand strategy and promote special events
  • Maintain impeccable standards of service for all dining venues
  • Stay updated on culinary and beverage trends and competitor offerings
  • Assist Food & Beverage Operations Manager with creation and execution of activations
  • Ensure Open Table platform is current and engaged
  • Implement procedures to increase guest and employee satisfaction
  • Exercise quality control for food and beverage
  • Perform daily compliance walkthroughs
  • Coach and counsel employees
  • Assist with payroll, reports, forecasts, inventory and budgeting
  • Resolve customer complaints
