The role of Assistant Outlet Manager at Fairmont Breakers plays a crucial part in the management and execution of the Food and Beverage operations. Job Requirements
- College degree preferred
- Bachelor of Science degree in hotel or restaurant management desirable
- minimum of 2 years experience in leadership or supervisory role in high-volume upscale food and beverage operation preferred
- knowledge of computers including MS Word, Excel, Outlet, and POS systems
- good command of the English language
- proficient in food planning, preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies, personnel management, recordkeeping, and report preparation
- sommelier qualification is an asset
- advanced math and finance skills
- managers food handler's certification
- TIPS or alcohol safety certification
- must be able to think quickly and creatively
- regular bending, kneeling, and reaching
- regular lifting and moving of heavy materials
- standing most of the day

Job Duties
- Lay out goals and develop strategies to accomplish them
- forecast and schedule using hotel tools and guidelines
- oversee training of food and beverage staff including supervisors and hourly employees
- control and maintain standards such as employee conduct, grooming, dress code, appearance, and sanitation
- formulate and recommend changes to improve employee performance and teamwork
- review employee performance annually
- develop and implement merchandising and cost control strategies
- ensure employees have thorough knowledge of menu items and beverage program
- collaborate with General Manager and culinary team to ensure product quality and guest satisfaction
- participate in floor training, coaching, and counseling of staff
- manage compliance with company and LQA standards
- assist during busy periods in food and beverage department
- handle guest complaints to secure maximum satisfaction
- manage flexible work schedules for appropriate coverage
- ensure accurate bi-weekly payroll processing
- lead departmental meetings, briefings, and shift line ups
- manage key hotel events and ensure preparedness of departments
- review daily log book
- schedule team responsibly to meet standards
- assist in waste management and sustainability initiatives
- ensure equipment is maintained and report deficiencies
- calculate and control food and beverage costs
- participate in team member selection
- manage human resources functions including recruiting, interviewing, evaluating, coaching, disciplinary actions, and termination
- handle guest complaints and optimize food and beverage appearance, quality, and service
- develop and analyze procedures and promotions
- maintain effective communication between departments
- respond properly to hotel emergencies and safety situations
- maintain regular and predictable attendance
- perform other tasks or projects as assigned
