The role of Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at Southern Trace Country Club offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for a driven individual eager to contribute to and grow within a fast-paced, hospitality-focused organization. This position is integral to ensuring the smooth daily operation of the club’s food and beverage services, including member and guest satisfaction, personnel training and development, inventory control, vendor relations, and food production management.

As an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, you will engage actively with club members and guests during meal service, ensuring quality and service meet club standards. You will supervise inventory, maintain par levels, and coordinate with department leaders to meet operational goals. Your responsibilities will include overseeing sanitation standards, assisting with menu planning alongside the Executive Chef, and contributing to the development of strong supplier relationships leveraging Troon's preferred supplier base.

You will also be involved in staffing activities such as interviewing, hiring, training, and planning work assignments, while also evaluating performance and addressing any issues within the team. Managing various department members including supervisors, servers, bartenders, and food runners will be part of your daily duties. The role demands leadership, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.

This position requires a hands-on approach and the ability to adopt best practices, utilizing inventory management software and other analytical tools to optimize operations. Additionally, you will be expected to uphold safety and sanitation standards rigorously and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • six months to one year related experience or training
  • equivalent combination of education and experience
  • frequently stands, walks, talks or hears
  • occasionally sits, uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls
  • regularly tastes or smells
  • regularly lifts up to 50 pounds
  • occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather)
  • occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions
  • moderate noise level
  • food safety and applicable sanitation training
  • alcohol awareness training
  • ability to read and speak English
  • meet state age requirements for handling alcoholic beverages

Job Duties

  • Regularly walk the dining room floor to engage with members and guests and ensure quality service
  • supervise inventories and maintain par levels for materials and supplies
  • maintain communication with other department leaders to meet operational objectives
  • inspect the facility for maintenance, repairs, and cleanliness
  • complete production reports and control supply distribution
  • assist with menu design, product pricing, ordering, inventory control, and end of month inventory
  • assist in interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and directing staff, evaluating performance, and resolving complaints
