The Assistant Café Leader position at Life Time plays a crucial role within the café operations by supporting the Café Leader in ensuring the delivery of outstanding guest experiences and operational excellence. This position requires an individual who excels in service leadership and possesses a deep understanding of daily café operations including food quality assurance, safety compliance, labor management, and inventory control. The Assistant Café Leader is responsible for guiding and motivating team members, ensuring that the café environment remains welcoming, efficient, and aligned with Life Time’s hospitality standards at every shift. This role demands a hands-on approach in coaching staff, managing operational metrics, and fostering a strong service culture dedicated to continuous improvement and guest satisfaction.

In this role, the Assistant Café Leader contributes directly to the financial health of the café by partnering with the Café Leader to manage costs and optimize productivity. The position requires balancing service excellence with operational discipline to maintain profitability within a fast-paced, dynamic food service environment. Team leadership is a core component of the role, involving recruitment support, onboarding, ongoing training, and employee development initiatives to build a motivated and high-performing team. Additionally, the Assistant Café Leader must enforce rigorous compliance with food safety, cleanliness, and Life Time brand standards to uphold the integrity and reputation of the establishment.

This is an hourly position with a competitive wage starting at $22.25 and going up to $29.75 based on qualifications and experience. Job Requirements

  • Strong passion for hospitality, guest engagement, and team leadership
  • Ability to lead by example and coach others in a fast-paced café environment
  • Experience working with POS systems, food handling, and inventory processes
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs repeatedly and perform physical tasks throughout shifts
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of leadership experience in a fast-casual or café setting
  • ServSafe Manager certification or equivalent
  • ServSafe Alcohol Safety or equivalent (if applicable)
  • CPR/AED certification
  • College degree in business, culinary arts, hospitality, or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of food costing, scheduling, and basic profit and loss analysis preferred
  • Experience leading team culture and driving sales through service preferred
  • Ability to develop and implement service recovery or upselling strategies preferred
  • Passion for creating a desirable, guest-centric café environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Leads day-to-day café operations with a focus on hospitality, service standards, and shift execution
  • Coaches, trains, and motivates team members to deliver exceptional guest experiences and meet performance expectations
  • Partners with the Café Leader to manage labor, food costs, inventory, and overall financial performance
  • Supports hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members to create a strong, service-focused café culture
  • Ensures all food safety, cleanliness, and Life Time brand standards are upheld on every shift
