The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at Surety Hotel plays a pivotal role in executing this promise of excellence. Reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Manager, this exempt position demands a combination of strategic vision and hands-on leadership within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The Assistant Manager supports and leads the Food & Beverage team across all outlets including the Restaurant, Bar, Café, In-Room Dining, and Banquets, overseeing service at all meal periods from breakfast through dinner and event services. This role requires an energetic leader who thrives in managing the complexities of a bustling operation, seamlessly balancing guest satisfaction with team development and operational efficiency.

Engaging closely with the team and guests, the Assistant Manager serves as Manager on Duty for assigned shifts, leading by example and maintaining active communication with all departments to ensure flawless service execution. Job Requirements

  • Passion for the people, place and culture of our community
  • minimum of three years experience in food & beverage with at least one year in a supervisory or leadership role
  • proficiency in Word, Excel and other applicable computer systems
  • working knowledge or ability to obtain in reservation and POS systems such as OpenTable, Tock, Micros, Silverware and Lightspeed
  • working knowledge or ability to obtain in reporting and inventory management tools such as Avero, Beverager and Accubar
  • solid understanding of service standards, labor control, maintenance, merchandising and accounting
  • ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol Awareness certification (TIPS) and Food Handlers Certification (ServSafe) within 30 days of hire
  • thorough understanding of all food & beverage items offered including ingredients, preparation methods and proper service
  • mastery of the full steps of service
  • working knowledge of wines and spirits
  • ability to work varying schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • fluency in English
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • ability to push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs
  • able to work in extreme temperatures

Job Duties

  • Uphold and model the companys principles of people, place and character
  • partner with the F&B manager in recruitment, training, scheduling, supervising, coaching, and motivation of all restaurant, bar, café, in-room dining and banquets associates
  • serve as manager on duty for assigned shifts, owning pre-shift, service execution and post-shift recap
  • build and maintain strong guest and VIP relationships
  • review reservations and cover count reports to determine appropriate staffing levels and station assignments
  • assist in managing inventory, controlling breakage and loss of china, glass and silver
  • support daily POS hygiene, end-of-shift reconciliation, cash handling controls, and accurate ringing of all banquet and event covers
  • assist the F&B manager with labor and cost-of-goods discipline
  • assist in other food & beverage departments as needed
  • maintain regular communication with the F&B management team to provide updates, discuss plans, communicate needs, and align on priorities
