The role of Assistant Operations Manager - Banquets/Event Services at Hyatt Regency Columbus is a dynamic and vital position within the hotel's Food and Beverage team. This full-time management role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless execution of all banquet and event services across the hotel’s expansive event spaces. The Assistant Operations Manager is entrusted with proactively overseeing daily operations, coordinating between banquet setups, event services, and collaborating closely with the Event Sales and Event Planning teams as well as other hotel departments to deliver flawless events. A core responsibility is to lead, motivate, and develop the banquet and event setup teams, fostering a positive and high-energy work atmosphere that promotes exceptional guest service and colleague engagement.

This role requires a high level of organization, communication, and leadership skills, as well as a thorough understanding of food and beverage event specifications. The Assistant Operations Manager is directly involved in the logistical aspects of event and banquet setups, including timely and appropriate arrangements in alignment with guest and hotel standards. Responsibilities also include administrative duties such as payroll facilitation, reporting, forecasting, inventory management, and budget oversight for food and beverage functions. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2-4 years relevant experience in hotel, banquet, or food and beverage operations
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with computers and point of sale systems
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for long periods and walk moderate distances
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a team player with a positive and proactive attitude

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of hotel, banquet, food and beverage or similar experience
  • Leadership experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Effectively and proactively monitor the daily functions of the banquet and event services department
  • Ensure coordination and execution of all hotel events in the hotel’s 70,000 square feet of event space
  • Support and manage the banquet/event services and event setup teams
  • Work closely with the event sales and event planning teams and other hotel departments
  • Supervise, empower, lead, coach and motivate the events team
  • Assist the hotel in reaching top service scores on meeting planner and guest surveys
  • Ensure thorough communication and understanding with guests and other departments
  • Responsible for the appropriate and timely setup of all functions, meetings and food service while maintaining food and beverage specifications
  • Proactively review staffing and equipment needs
  • Maintain a high energy, positive and professional atmosphere
  • Develop innovative ideas to enhance food and beverage functions
  • Facilitate payroll, reports, forecasts, point of sale procedures, inventory and budget for food and beverage functions
