This full-time position offers an annual salary of $72,000 along with a generous benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and a 401k plan.

As an Assistant Event Operations Manager, the incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring the flawless operation of the Stockton Complex across all venues. Reporting to the Event Operations & Security Manager, this role acts as a key liaison between the facility and its clients, guaranteeing that all client requirements are met while upholding the facility's stringent rules, regulations, and policies. The Assistant Manager coordinates and supervises all aspects of facility operations, including front and back-of-house management, preventive maintenance, vendor and contractor relations, staffing, and logistical support for setup and teardown activities. Hiring, training, and supervising a diverse team comprised of full-time, part-time, and temporary staff fall within the scope of this position. Additionally, the Assistant Manager assists in directing operations related to building maintenance, technical services, event services including ADA compliance, public safety, security, and custodial operations. Effective communication and problem resolution skills are essential, as the role demands anticipation of potential issues and swift, decisive action to ensure smooth event execution. The position requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously within a busy venue environment. Familiarity with software tools such as CAD, Adobe Illustrator, and specialized scheduling software is preferred to support planning and operational activities. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of related experience
  • Knowledge of facility management principles and safety requirements
  • Ability to coordinate multiple events simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Capability to work independently and under pressure
  • Licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the United States
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and scheduling software such as ABI Mastermind
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Possess knowledge of the principles of facility management, building operations, maintenance, practices and safety requirements
  • Coordinate and satisfy requirements of multiple events occurring simultaneously
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
  • Engage in crowd management decisions promptly and decisively during crisis situations
  • Work independently exercising judgment and initiative effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedules to produce accurate results
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage several abstract and concrete variables
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form
  • CAD and Adobe Illustrator experience preferred
  • Good written, verbal and computer skills

Job Duties

  • Manage all aspects of facility operations including front and back-of-house, preventive maintenance, third-party contracting, staffing, venue setup and tear-down at all Stockton Complex venues
  • Hire, train and supervise full time, part-time and temporary staff
  • Assist the Operations Manager and director in directing, supervising and scheduling all aspects of operations including buildings, technical services, event services, ADA compliance, public safety, security, and custodial services
  • Coordinate operations activities with other building departments and show-related contractors
  • Implement facility rules, regulation policies and procedures
  • Anticipate problems and provide appropriate solutions
  • Investigate, analyze and resolve operational problems and complaints
  • Provide clear, concise and timely communication of directives to other departments
  • Ensure operations department receives pertinent information for effective use of facility and staffing
  • Assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events
  • Input purchase requisitions
  • Maintain the master MSDS log in the building
  • Perform other duties as assigned
