Job Description
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to mobilizing people and resources to drive research toward a cure for multiple sclerosis (MS) and to address the challenges faced by everyone affected by the disease. Established as a leading force in the MS community, the Society funds cutting-edge research, advocates for vital change, provides professional education, partners with MS organizations globally, and offers comprehensive programs and services designed to help individuals living with MS and their families move their lives forward. The Society’s impactful work is supported by a passionate team of staff and volunteers who are engaged through effective communication, meaningful opportunities, and continuous feedback for mutual growth and learning. The organization is deeply mission-driven, with a culture that fosters collaboration, innovation, and dedication to improving the quality of life for people affected by MS.
The role of Assistant Director, Signature Events, is a pivotal position within the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's West Region covering New Mexico, Arizona, and the Nevada chapter. This market-based role, primarily located in the Las Vegas, NV area, demands a dynamic professional who can plan, direct, and execute high-profile fundraising events such as galas, luncheons, and cocktail parties that significantly contribute to the Society’s revenue goals and mission advancement. This position requires approximately 50% travel time to attend meetings, events, and constituent engagements, while also offering flexibility for remote work. The Assistant Director will partner closely with the Assistant Vice President and Regional Vice President to ensure strategic alignment of local campaigns with national priorities and to drive continuous improvement and growth.
This role is responsible for leading full-cycle fundraising event management, from strategic planning through execution and post-event analysis. Key responsibilities include recruiting and managing Event Chairs and Committee members, optimizing event logistics, and cultivating meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, and volunteers to secure long-term engagement. The Assistant Director is expected to focus on innovation and utilize data-driven decision-making to analyze donor trends, develop stewardship strategies, and leverage CRM systems like Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce to enhance fundraising efforts. Compensation for this role ranges between $60,000 and $69,000 based on geographic location and experience, with a highly competitive benefits package that includes paid time off, paid holidays, 401k retirement savings plan with matching, commuter benefits, medical, dental, vision coverage, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, and access to wellness resources such as free therapy and coaching services.
Ideal candidates will have proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, or development support, along with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, proficiency with donor database systems, and a collaborative spirit are essential. This position is full of growth opportunities within a mission-oriented, inclusive environment focused on supporting each employee’s career development and success. Joining the National MS Society means becoming part of a passionate team dedicated to ending MS and improving lives every day.
