The Security and Safety Services Manager plays a pivotal role within this environment, primarily assisting with the direction and management of the security and safety functions for the property, which includes Convention Services. This role demands oversight to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company policies and regulations, including NFPA and OSHA standards. Working closely with meeting planners during planning meetings, the manager proactively promotes Special Event Security services and recommends additional security and hotel services tailored to client needs. The role encompasses the coordination of VIP and dignitary visits and acting as a liaison with government agencies and Group Corporate Security to maintain a safe environment consistent with company standards. The manager also monitors vendor and outside company activities to uphold guest safety and protect property assets.

The manager supports profitability and revenue goals by assisting in budget preparation and cost control measures, monitoring departmental payroll, and developing loss prevention and safety programs. Essential to this role is the management of human resources activities within the security department, including conducting mandatory safety training, scheduling staff such as Special Event Security Officers and Badge Checkers, mentoring direct reports, interviewing and selecting new employees, and appraising productivity and efficiency. The manager also ensures compliance with licensing and certification requirements, including CPR/AED certification.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum five years of safety and security administration experience
- Knowledge of NFPA and OSHA standards
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- CPR/AED certified or ability to certify within 90 days
- Compliance with state law registration requirements

Job Duties
- Participates in meetings with customers to proactively sell special event security and recommends additional security and hotel services
- Inspects location-provided security services and interacts with on-site meeting planners to promote satisfaction and safety
- Coordinates VIP and dignitary visits and liaises with government agencies and Group Corporate Security
- Monitors activities of vendors and outside companies to ensure guest safety and asset protection
- Assists in developing loss prevention and safety programs and makes recommendations
- Assists with departmental budget preparation and cost controls and monitors payroll accuracy
- Conducts mandatory training for Safety Service agents and manages staffing schedules
- Mentors and develops employees
- Interviews, selects, and trains staff
- Appraises employee productivity and efficiency and apportions work accordingly
