The Assistant Director of Operations at Hyatt Regency New Orleans holds a pivotal leadership role within both the Food & Beverage and Rooms Divisions. This career-advancing position requires a dynamic and high-energy professional with substantial industry expertise and leadership capabilities. The individual in this role will be responsible for assisting the Executive Committee with management duties spanning multiple departments including the Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Services, all food and beverage outlets, as well as Banquets and Convention Services teams. This position oversees a substantial team, leading approximately 70 hourly associates and 12 assistant or department managers within the Rooms Division, while also guiding 170 hourly associates and 12 managers within the Food & Beverage Division. Additionally, the role includes managing over 100 contracted associates working in various departments such as Housekeeping, Guest Services, Security, Banquets, and Convention Services.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Proven leadership experience in hospitality management
  • Minimum experience managing multiple departments or operational areas
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate large teams
  • Experience in high volume hotel or convention center operations
  • Flexibility to work varied schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Commitment to exceptional guest service
  • Ability to handle fast-paced environment and problem solving
  • Proficiency in managing contracted and hourly staff

Job Qualifications

  • Current directors of operations at small to mid-sized property ready for a high volume property
  • Current directors of food and beverage or rooms in small to mid-sized property willing to learn other operations
  • Current assistant directors of food and beverage or rooms ready to broaden skill set
  • Experience as a department head in at least two departments at a medium-sized hotel
  • Four year college degree from an accredited university
  • Solid work history with strong professional references
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse populations
  • Service oriented with professional presentation skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Assist executive committee members with management of front office, housekeeping, guest services, food and beverage venues, banquets, and convention services
  • Lead and supervise a large team of hourly associates and assistant managers within the rooms and food and beverage divisions
  • Coordinate and manage contracted associates across various departments
  • Ensure adherence to Hyatt’s operational standards and exceptional guest service
  • Oversee daily operations and troubleshoot issues to maintain high quality and efficiency
  • Collaborate with department heads to optimize service delivery and staff performance
  • Support career growth initiatives and assist in training and development programs
