The Office of Admissions at the University of Utah is currently seeking a personable, energetic, and poised Assistant Director of International Recruitment to join their dedicated team. This full-time position, with a competitive salary range of $68,000 to $70,000 annually, plays a pivotal role in shaping and driving the university's international recruitment efforts. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director will be entrusted with the responsibility to develop, implement, and assess a strategic international recruitment plan tailored to attract talented students from around the globe to the Salt Lake City campus. The role also involves coordinating closely with recruitment teams from the Utah Asia Campus and the English pathway programs ensuring a cohesive and effective recruitment strategy across international markets.
Integral to the success in this role is the ability to deliver outstanding customer service and to facilitate smooth interactions between prospective international students, various university departments, and external stakeholders. The Assistant Director is also tasked with overseeing the supervision and professional development of the International Admission Counselors. Duties extend to assisting in setting recruitment goals, evaluating recruitment tactics by analyzing comprehensive data, and refining strategies to meet the university’s international enrollment objectives. Additionally, this role encompasses managing day-to-day operations of the Welcome Center, fostering team collaboration, handling recruitment events, and travel planning for international recruitment trips. The position requires strong leadership skills to support and develop a professional admissions team, along with excellent communication skills to engage diverse audiences effectively.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency
- Four years of progressively more responsible management experience
- Background knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors
- Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department
- Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required
- Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency
- Four years of progressively more responsible management experience
- Background knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization
- Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes
- Completion of provided supervisory training may be required
- Four or more years of full-time experience in new student recruitment and/or admissions
- Experience conducting on-the-ground new student recruitment abroad
- Demonstrated experience in developing, executing, and assessing recruitment strategies and tactics
- Understanding the unique challenges and opportunities for recruiting prospective international students
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and find solutions to possible issues
- Ability to communicate complex information to individuals and groups from all backgrounds
- Demonstrated experience with supervising staff
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Master's degree preferred, especially in higher education, international policy or relations, public or business administration
Job Duties
- Assist in setting recruitment short and long-term goals
- Establish internal objectives and implement procedures to meet goals
- Assist with the development, implementation, reporting and assessment of a strategic international recruitment plan
- Assess the impact and success of international recruitment strategies and tactics through collecting and analyzing various types of data to recommend and implement improvements and changes to existing efforts
- Help with the training/development, supervision, support, evaluation, and retention of full-time, professional staff members
- Work closely with the other recruitment managers to support an office culture of accountability, team-work, and consistency
- Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Welcome Center
- Engage with internal and external International Student focused organizations and departments that support the University's enrollment strategy and goals
- Manage recruitment requests, event registrations, and staff coverage
- Support the recruitment and admission of students from institutions within an assigned international territory
- Build personalized relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, and other constituents in support of the recruitment goals for the territory
- Read and evaluate application files in assigned territory, and oversee and manage the reading volume and deadlines for any direct reports
- Oversee the travel planning and approval process for direct reports, and develop an in-depth knowledge of the university's travel policies, procedures and Concur travel system
- Coordinate travel planning for significant international travel in target and emerging international markets
- Perform other duties as assigned
