The role of Assistant Director of Finance at The Eliza Jane is integral to maintaining the financial health and operational efficiency of the hotel. This leadership position entails overseeing the day-to-day functions of the finance department, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and timely completion of financial processes. The Assistant Director of Finance supervises key teams including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashier, and night audit, fostering a collaborative environment where empowerment and development are encouraged. Working closely with the Director of Finance, this role involves training staff and supporting thoughtful decision-making that aligns with business objectives.

This position requires a strong grounding in accounting principles and financial reporting, with a focus on the hospitality industry. The Assistant Director of Finance plays a critical role in month-end close activities, financial statement reviews, balance sheet reconciliations, and operational reporting. Additionally, this role supports budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking to drive informed strategic decisions. Collaboration with both operational and finance teams is essential to enhance processes, improve performance, and increase efficiency across multiple properties or complex business units.

Job Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in hospitality
  • luxury, lifestyle, boutique hotel experience preferred
  • strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, and internal controls
  • advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems
  • experience with hotel systems such as Opera, Micros, BirchStreet, or similar platforms
  • proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • experience leading or supporting multiple locations or complex business units preferred

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries and support timely financial close across assigned properties
  • conduct monthly financial statement reviews in partnership with the Area Director of Finance
  • assist in preparation of financial and operational reporting
  • perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • support budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking to drive informed business decisions
  • partner with operational and finance teams to improve processes, performance, and efficiency
  • additional duties as assigned
